XF 2.0 Allow guests to vote in polls

Hello

I would like non forum members to vote in polls.

I have changed Vote on Polls to Yes for Unregistered / Unconfirmed. But they still cannot.

Would this only apply to new polls and not current?

It’s not possible for unregistered members to vote on polls as we have to store a unique user ID per vote, and guests don’t have one.

I did think about this a while back but aside from 'how to track' it would likely have to be IP based which is not a brilliant idea as dynamic ones change so it would be in theory possible for a real genuine guest to be denied a vote as the system may think they have already cast one.

I could be wrong but I half thought there was an addon for XF1 to allow this (I think I am mistaken now) but looking at it logically as Chris has mentioned, I could not "in my head" think of a sane way of doing it reliably.
