As designed Alerts not cleared on unwatched threads?

I watched a thread, unwatched it again and there are still the alerts from the thread on my alert page.

Shouldn't they all get cleared?

Nah, that would be useless, it's not like the alerts there are disturbing the view of xenForo

I'd say as designed since you did opt in to get alerted of it at one point in time

I don't feel disturbed by those remaining alerts, I just thought this might be a bug.

It can also be intentional, in a way that alerts are stored in a different way or table and those alerts don't even know that I opted out because they are not connected. In this case it would be a lot harder to remove them versus leaving them where they are. Does it make sense?

Alerts are stored separately. So this is as designed.
