Fixed XF2.3 - Notification Alerts not auto-clearing

My users aren't happy with how Alerts behaves after our upgrade.
It used to be that simply clicking the bell would clear all alerts.
But now you have to click the bell and then refresh/change the page.
Even clicking the new "mark as read" button doesn't instantly clear anything until after we change the page.

And it's not just my board. It's also the behavior I see here on Xenforo.com.
If you go click on the alert bell (because you have an active alert) and then click anywhere outside of it, you'll notice the alert remains until you manually clear it by clicking the individual alert or refreshing the page.

It used to clear by simply clicking the bell.

I may have actually seen it in 2.2.16 also?

My site is on 2.2.16 patch 2 and works fine. Just popped over and tested with an alert I had. Nor have I seen it here. But if it is happening here, then there's something awry for sure.

I am running Chrome on Android and Windows but was using Firefox for a bit too since I updated my site.
 
I have observed this change in behaviour on xenforo.com as well - it is quite frustrating that the alerts don't always get cleared.

Also, I'm pretty sure that it used to automatically clear alerts from all tabs when one tab clears the alert? Now I have to refresh each page to see the updated alerts.

I'm pretty sure it's a 2.3 issue and not related to XF 2.2.x

I'm not 100% sure about 2.2.16 so I removed it from the title.

Yeah, the tabs are so annoying with the alerts not going away. Especially when you've got twenty XF tabs open like me right now. :lol:

Hi,
Notification count (number in red colour) is not always showing on bell icon at top right corner.
users need to click on notification icon to check if they have any unread notification or not. sometimes after reloading the page notification count showing again.
Please check this.

Yeah, it's a 2.3 bug for sure. Not noticed it on this site, but a friend who has 2.3 his forum now does this. Pretty annoying, so I hope it gets fixed soon.

I've deferred the upgrade for my cloud site for the full 6 months to allow niggles like this to be worked out with point releases.
 
Can you give us an idea when 2.3.1 will be out? I really want to upgrade, but with these niggles ironed out.

I installed 2.3.1 and it was fixed
