Xon submitted a new resource:

Aggregating Forums - Allows viewing threads from sub-forums in the parent forum.

Allows viewing threads from sub-forums in the parent forum.

Admin's Opt-in a forum (by default or make it available), and users can then opt-out depending on if they have the permission.

New Thread in the parent forum prompts the user to post in a child forum (if they are allowed) even if posting in the parent forum isn't permitted.

Features

Xon updated Aggregating Forums with a new update entry:

Feature Update

  • New "Aggregate forums not in node list " option (disabled by default).
    • When enabled, forums without "Display in the node list" and are viewable by a user, will show up as aggregateable forums.
    • If you do not wish to disclose a particular forum, you must not allow aggregate on it or use permissions to control access.

Would it be possible to make this work the same with categories? So that clicking on a category would show all the threads from the category's forums?

It would be tricky as the category node type has no support for threads which makes things very difficult.

Silently rewriting a category into a forum if it has aggregation enabled would be one solution, but I'ld need to tinker a bit.

Installed and works correctly.
There's just one issue, don't know if bug or made on purpose: sticky threads do not show at the parent forum.
It would be nice to have the option to show them in the parent forum too.
At the parent forum they probably should be shown as non-sticky threads.
What's your opinion @Xon ?
Thanks!

Another question... is there any limit on forum aggregation?
I was adding them but it starting giving an error and I can't add anymore.

Kinda, there is a per-forum "Bypass Thread Friction" permission.

Per-forum opt-in (vs opt-out) is planned.

I was adding them but it starting giving an error and I can't add anymore.

I'ld need to see the error. Bring up the dev tools (hit "f12"), go to the network tab, reload the page and trigger the error and can you post the output of the page which errors?
