AdBlock Detector Pro

AdBlock Detector Pro [Paid] v2.6.6

No permission to buy ($40.00)
Hi @Wutime
I'm just wondering why the files write to the main /js/ directory, it looks suspicious.
Wouldn't it be better off in /js/wutime_adblock/jsfiles or something?

It's far too easy with systems like uBlock to detect and block /js/wutime_adblock/* - that's why it's the primary /js/ folder.

Is this addon supported these days. I see earlier in the discussion that it was removed (at least temporarily) at some point.
Is it compatible with PHP 8?

Does this add-on detect visits with adblocking Brave browsers?
Can someone who uses it confirm?

@Wutime Have you tested it with Brave browsers?

I've purchased and tested this add-on.
It works well with all XenForo 2.2 versions and detects AdBlock Plus, uBlock origin and also Brave browsers.

It does not work however with XenForo 2.3 (currently Beta). It makes use of jQuery which is no longer available in XF 2.3.

@Wutime Will you upgrade this add-on for XenForo 2.3?

Too much of a cat and mouse game with AdBlockers to keep up.

Until I find a plugin solution for a reliable AdBlock Detection this will remain unmaintained.

Reversal: I'll continue to support, but did add a Limitations section to the Overview page of this add-on.

Actually, after talking to some customers, I've reversed my decision and will support.

However, to be upfront, I have added the following to the Overview page of the add-on:

Limitations:
  • This does detect the most popular AdDetectors (as of June 16, 2024)
  • Please note, this will never work 100% perfectly for ALL possible ways to AdBlock
  • Please do not buy if you're expecting 100% accuracy across all bazillion possible implementations of AdBlock detection such as (DNS, custom Raspberry Pi-hole Domain Name Server systems, custom uBlock declarations etc.)
The above should serve to inform customers that AdBlock detection is more of a "try our best" situation versus a 100% accuracy game. There's just too many ways to circumvent, with some being impossible to detect without extreme and costly measures.

Any updates to expect?

The updates are more focused towards ongoing use, not so much any feature additions at this time.
Actually, now I've been working on it all weekend I've decided to drastically overhaul the AdBlock Detector, and have a roadmap of new features for the addon. It's been refreshing to get back on this project with given so much time has past since the last update.

I'm going to release an update that covers a lot of ground, with a laundry list of updates, as well as slowly getting rid of any of the static detection which does nothing but fail most of the time anyways. I'm just testing an RC version across some websites first. Moving forward, the /js/ file will be required to be writeable, which I think is pretty standard amongst install anyways. This will make fresh installs and upgrades work correctly moving forward, and should cut down on initial complaints.

Initial testing show good improvements and it's working on just about everything I could get my hands on.

I'll work on additional features and an XF2.3 version following that release. XF2.3 requires a complete rewrite of the JavaScript because it uses jQuery quite significantly, which moving forward, isn't supported by XF. I'll rewrite everything to use Vanilla JS. Given XF2.3 isn't released yet, this isn't so urgent at the moment.
