AdBlock Detector Pro

AdBlock Detector Pro [Paid] v2.7.0

No permission to buy ($40.00)
Someone asked me about v2.2 and v2.3

This update is compatible with v2.2. We're not yet compatible with XF v2.3. Xenforo is moving away from jQuery in v2.3, hence the need for a rewrite to native JS.

I am working on the update and will have it ready for v2.3.

Do existing license holders have to purchase this new addon with the new name? Wasn't the old name for the addon AdBlock tracker and it was a lifetime license? Im confused.
There's no lifetime license per-se. But I suppose you have a lifetime license for the versions you downloaded - unless I can take it back from you after a year 😋

Wutime updated AdBlock Detector Pro with a new update entry:

x2.3.0 - works with XF 2.3 and backwards compatible

  • XF2.3 compatible
  • fully backwards compatible
  • updated to Native JS throughout
  • removed minicolors (jquery script) (replaced with browser native color picker)
  • XF 2.3 added areas of attack with identifications specific to the addon in data-template-name
  • added templaterPostRender
    • removes all [data-template-name=public] references from final XF JS output
  • put easy lists in a shortened textarea for brevity/clarity

In my testing, very effective.

With that said, if there's a specific extension you want me to test I'd be happy to do it and report back. Please send it to me privately though, I'm trying to avoid product names in this discussion because less attention is best.

I'd also ask, what are you trying to achieve? In so far as, are you wanting to target guests for ad views, or, are you wanting to target members for paid subscriptions or donations? The latter would require AdBlock Detected Tracker & Statistics and not this add-on. I should really rename the latter to something more appropriate to its usefulness. I should find the time to put together a tutorial because either can be very effective at converting if used properly.

No specific extension.
What I'd want to do is reliably add a specific usergroup to adblocking members and remove it when they are not adblocking (after a delay of a multiple of page views according to the number of times the usergroup has been added).
I'm only interested in detecting members because it is they who are using our free Competitions and Classifieds services.

That's exactly what this Add-on does: AdBlock Detected Tracker & Statistics

@#Anakin mistakenly posted in another add-on discussion group, meaning to post here. His question was about Brave browser and it not being detected. I'll answer here in the properly discussion.

Brave is LESS THAN 1% of the browser market, so it's not something I'm interested in troubleshooting.

For transparency:

I'm not going to install every browser and extension. It's exhausting and way too time consuming. Chrome is 66%, Safari is 20%, Edge is 5%+. That's enough.

My attempts for detection and updates focused on what's most common.

There will always be ways for more tech savvy patrons to circumvent almost anything on the internet, including adblock, that's just the fact when we're in an "open" tech environment.

Performance:

With that said, the latest build is approximately 97% when using the most common browsers/extensions, which is 90%+ of real visitors. That's 87% by my estimation.

If anyone is curious why the user named @GameNet posts angry faces 😡 on my add-ons every time I post an update the explanation is below.

Note, he's not a customer, nor someone I've ever had any interaction with until recently (as far as I know).

He dislikes AdBlock detection and doesn't agree with my add-ons.

I've asked him to stop, but suspect he'll continue to do so.

RIP

In the previous version I tested with brave browser as well and it was blocking brave

Yes for me as well.. it doesn’t work at all. I don’t see even the red window pop up.. with any kind of adblocker.. before the update of xenforo it was all working smoothly

Looks like back to the drawing board for XF 2.3. It's already been defeated with updates. I'll need a few days to sort it out.

I've reposted v1.9.7 for anyone running XF 2.x. It's a step back, but does work. If you're running XF 2.3 you should probably disable it.

Even with 1.9.7 you need to install with AdBlock disabled. Someone clearly downloaded the add-on, ripped through the code, and even reviewed the administration side of things to make installing/uninstalling a pain in the ass with adblock enabled. All in the past 24 hours. I wonder who it could be.
