XF 1.5 Activation e-mails not being sent out

    Hi everyone,

I've been setting up my Xenforo board with the SMTP from google.
For some reason I can send out e-mails to all users (they get in their inbox) but when it comes to activation e-mail they are not receiving it. I know that there are other threads around here but so far, none helped me out.

Since I can send out e-mails through xenforo, I'd say that the configuration is fine?
Could someone point me out to what could be possibly wrong?

I use my own VPS with Centos.

    Thanks in advance.

If other emails are being sent and received then that confirms the configuration is fine.

Do you see any entries in the ACP error log for these emails?

Do you see the emails in the log on the server?

There are no errors in the ACP error log.
    In the mail log however..

    Mar 6 09:07:39 wyrmgnosis postfix/qmgr[1150]: E045F41FBF: from=<apache@wyrmgnosis.com>, size=889, nrcpt=1 (queue active)
Mar 6 09:08:09 wyrmgnosis postfix/smtp[22634]: connect to canallow.com[204.11.56.48]:25: Connection timed out
    Mar 6 09:08:09 wyrmgnosis postfix/smtp[22634]: E045F41FBF: to=<ol@canallow.com>, relay=none, delay=75969, delays=75938/0.06/30/0, dsn=4.4.1, status=deferred (connect to canallow.com[204.11.56.48]:25: Connection timed out)

It says apache@wyrmgnosis.com while I'm using noreply@wyrmgnosis.com. Can this be the issue? That the server itself requires a configuration?

No, that's just a standard out of the box way that Postfix works. You can enable the "-f" parameter option in XF's mail options which may prevent that.

In the example given, it's an issue connecting to the external server (from Postfix, not XF). That's either an issue with that server or a firewall/network issue on your server's end.

So what exactly could be the cause?
I've been messing a bit with my settings, and sometimes the e-mail for activation got through --> after rebooting Postfix most of the times.
The "f-" parameter is only if things are set by default, I changed it to SMTP. Sending out by default does not work.
I've allowed the port used in the firewall as well. I really don't understand the problem.

It's a bit frustrating to see how I actually can send out e-mails but that the activation e-mails are not working.

I got new errors through testing:

Hopefully you could tell me what is wrong and how I could fix this issue.
    Many thanks in advance.

These look like configuration issues within Postfix or networking issues ("network is unreachable"). You can really simplify your testing if you use the "default" PHP method to send mail, as it appears some of your issues may be down to you connecting to Postfix with a separate SMTP connection. Assuming this is all on the same server, you're not really getting any benefits by doing that (only disadvantages really).
