[8wayRun.Com] XenPorta (Portal)

XenPorta does not create a /forums/ subfolder... YOU DID.

All XenPorta does is move the forums from /index to /forum, and puts the /portal at /index.

If you have /forums/forums, its because YOU installed XenFORO (not PORTA) to the /forums/ subfolder. This is native to XenFORO and has nothing to do with XenPORTA.

good morning jaxel...

XenForo uses relative addressing, so everything can be relocated if you don't like it the way it is now. I had to relocate my install to the ROOT because I was not satisfied... ~peace

Quick question, i have xenforo installed as a subfolder in my server. so its /root/subfolder/

Does this affect how you install this addon?

I uploaded the folders with my ftp then i installed the xml like it said, it shows up on my addon list but then i click the new Home link it goes to the portal page but its blank.

I set permissions and options but i cant change moduels or anything.

If there is a problem with it being a subfolder in my site let me know.

Also i know some people name their sub folder xenforo, but mine has a diffrent name, is that part of the problem?

Are you a member of any usergroup in which these permissions have been set to "Revoke"? If not, have a look again at the portal page. The link should be there. :)

you sir just fixed my problem.

i was apart of all user groups so i guess it jacked up.

Thats odd that you cant edit it if you are.

Admin should overwrite every other permission...

Ok but now the facebook modual will only show the soul caliber page.

ive changed the info in the facebook integration section, is this facebook modual in a seperate area?

I just wanted to poke my head in that the promoting threads issue/bug I reported back before 1.4.0 is still present and accounted for. ;)

When you click "Promote Thread", and you enter the date and submit, it refreshes via ajax and displays this:

<span>Promote Options</span>

Obviously, it should only read "Promote Options" once it's been promoted. Wanted to make mention of it again in case it got lost!

Thanks!

Ok i have a new question.

How do you make the news show an image other than your avatar?

Is there a specific way to do it so it does that?

Thanks!

So we cant install xenforo in for example www.mywebsite.com/forums/ and have the portal homepage at www.mywebsite.com and the xenforo at www.mywebsite/forums/

Sure you can... its how I have it on my forums.

Install xenforo to the ROOT. When you view your forums, you have your forums in the forums subdirectory because you installed xenforo to the forums subdirectory. As I said, the extra forums in your url has NOTHING to do with xenporta.

I think they are referring to the Index.php that vbadvanced uses in the root to make the front page not do that. Even when you have your forum in /forum

That feature of vBa CMPS can be done but only because you can specify the new name of vB 'index.php' file within the vB ACP (eg: vB index.php is renamed forums.php & the new index.php is vBa CMPS). When I inquired a bit ago about being to do the same with XF, at the time I was informed it was not possible out of the box to rename XF's index.php to something else.

Yep ok the penny has finally dropped... I just realised the /forums/ is as you say part of the default xenforo install..

If I uncheck the box mentioned, there is no extra /forums/ in my URL.It also does not show up when checking out regular threads or posts, just on the list of forums/nodes.

Would it not be possible to somehow come up with a solution that does let XenPorta act as the landing page, but without the additional /forums?
