When someone shares a link to one of your forum threads on Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Discord, WhatsApp or Slack, the platform builds a preview card from your page's Open Graph tags. By default, XenForo uses a single site-wide metadata logo for that image on every thread — so every shared link looks identical and generic, no matter how visual the discussion is.
[UW] OG Image fixes that. It automatically sets each thread's Open Graph and Twitter Card image to the first image uploaded in the opening post, so shared links preview the real content of the thread — a photo, a chart, a screenshot — instead of your logo. Threads without an image fall back cleanly to your board's metadata logo, exactly as before.
There's nothing to configure. Install the add-on and it works: no options page, no per-thread setup, no ongoing maintenance. It applies through a single lightweight template modification, sets exactly one og:image tag — correctly overriding the default rather than duplicating it — and adds negligible overhead. Modern platforms, including Facebook's image proxy, handle common upload formats such as WebP without issue.
Imoprtant: a thread whose only image is an externally hotlinked URL (not uploaded to your forum) will fall back to the logo.

Facebook has two thresholds that matter:
- Below 200×200 on either side, Facebook shows no image at all — just the plain URL. If either side drops below 200×200, Facebook shows no image at all, just the plain URL.
- Below 600×315, it still shows but as a small side thumbnail rather than the big card. Images below 600×315 get displayed as a small thumbnail instead of the large preview card.
- recommended size is 1200×630 (1.91:1), which is the size the whole ecosystem has converged on for crisp previews. If you only remember one number, make it 1200×630 pixels — it has a 1.91:1 aspect ratio that works well across nearly every platform.
- if the image is taller than 1.91:1, Facebook center-crops to fit the 1.91:1 preview area. So edges get trimmed if your image isn't exactly 1.91:1 — you'll lose a few pixels top/bottom. Keep anything important out of the very top/bottom edge.
