Description:

Displays an alert in your browser tab.

Most web users like to keep a few tabs open of their favorite websites and forums. With this add-on you can quickly glance at your tabs to see if there are any new alerts. Tabs are updated automatically even when you're viewing other websites.

The image below shows South Bay Riders in the tab bar, the (1) indicates there is one new conversation or other alert.

Features:
  • Alerts updated in browser tab even if tab is not in focus.
  • Tab alerts will work with all popular browsers, computers, tablets and mobile devices.
  • Updates occur about every 15 seconds.
  • Shows Inbox and Alerts combined as one number.
  • No Options page.
  • No Permissions to set.
  • Code only runs for logged in members.
Installation:
  1. Download tabalerts_v1.5.zip and unzip it.
  2. Upload the TabAlerts folder to your server. The correct location is library/Andy/TabAlerts.
  3. From your Admin Control Panel, go to the "Install Add-on" page.
  4. Upload the addon-TabAlerts_v1.5.xml file.
  5. Click the Install Add-on button.

Very nice and useful addon. I always have at least 10 tabs open in my browser :D, and this addon comes as very handy to track my forum's activity.

A key to keeping your users active, is keeping them updated with the latest Alerts and this add-on does just that. Your user's XF browser Tab will stand out and get clicked-on more often. Just another example of AndyB's attention to detail.

As previously stated: "If they wanted to rewrite xen 2.0, then they should include all andy's add on in the core." and I tend to agree. The more I use his add-ons, the more insight I obtain to his (excellent) train-of-thought behind them.

Awesome plugin and quick updates. I would definitely recommend using this if you have a busy forum, It's easy to notice instead of swapping back and forth between to see if you got any notifications. Thank you! :)

Ok this is like the best option, should get the award for the greatest impact for the simplest addition, my moderators loved it first try , big time saver and as admin it allows me to see responses and updates while doing other work, like now hey look there is a new update on my site, Thanks Andy you create some the most useful things. This is something we had been looking for, but had the idea that it would be very painful to achieve. This add on makes is extremely easy to install and use. Staff has already played with it and got excited about it. We are currently using Xenforo 1.4 Beta 3 and experienced no problems at all. Thank you Andy!

Excellent simple add-on that updates alerts on your browser tab. It is very useful like many other add-ons from Andy.

The support is as usual as expected - perfect!

If you need something like this I really recommend you this add-on. No need to refresh your site, you can even browse other sites and you'll see alerts or new conversations in your tab.
