XF Cloud with IPv6

Nice, IPv6 has been enabled on our XF cloud instance!
I just noticed clients connecting over IPv6

Some time ago I wrote that XF cloud now supports IPv6 as I can see members with IPv6 address on my forum.
However, I don't fully understand this.

Initially I had to setup just an A record pointing to the IPv4 XF Cloud instance.
Never changed that, so there is no AAAA record.

If IPv6 has been enabled on the host, but no AAAA record exists, how come that IPv6 is working?

I do use Cloudflare, but then I still don't get it.
If Cloudflare would proxy IPv6 clients to the IPv4 address of my XF cloud instance, how could the XF Cloud instance see IPv6 addresses?
I would think the XF Cloud instance would see the IPv4 of the Cloudflare proxy.
Bit confused about this.

X-Forwarded-For maintains the original visitors IP addresses; CF forwarded them to your server via the HTTP header.

Irrespective of Cloudflare it can also be due to IPv6 tunnelling where an IPv6 packet can be encapsulated as an IPv4 packet.
