XF 3 General Information & Discussion

Xenforo is the only forum I have seen without a calendar.
You haven't seen phpBB, SMF, Flaurum, and the majority of forum software?

I even looked at one forum which had the calendar as a choice.
I've done hundreds of migrations to Xenforo and less than a dozen have asked to migrate their calendar. Just because you think it's an important feature, doesn't mean it is to most people. Why should they put their energy into something only a small minority wants, especially since there are good calendar add-ons?
The development had turned to dust unfortunately.
There have been 7 releases of the 2.3 branch since June of 2024.

Regarding the previous post I was referring to SMF with the Calendar and Elkarte for the support, apologies for the mix up.

December 1st marks my first week using Xenforo.

Am still getting used to things after 13 years of being away from forums.

Careful, he will tell you to "get a new hobby".

Went to Vegas for CES, shot around 50+ videos and came back just to find out there is no explanation about the delay. Not for 2.4 or 3.0. My license is expiring soon and I see no reason to renew it.
They’re clearly letting licenses expire before flipping the switch on the update that forces mass renewals.

Yes, there is.

Yes, there is.
Missed that one. Thanks.

I always renew each year because i might need help with one of my licences.
Renewing always means you can get the support you need via a ticket rather than getting trolled on the forum by others.
And yes the staff here are helpful when it comes to this.

Updates do not force renewals, older versions continue to work. I’m sure some people are waiting for an update before renewing but it isn’t compulsory to new.
Your reply assumes "forced" only means "software stops working." That’s not what I meant.
If you time a major update when you know a bunch of licenses are expiring/lapsed, and you put desirable features behind the current license, you don’t need to force anything. You just create the conditions where mass renewals are the obvious outcome.

People can technically stay put forever, sure. In practice, lots won’t, because they want the new features. That’s predictable. That’s the point.

Software companies have been shaping renewal behavior through release timing, feature gating, and license requirements for as long as commercial software has existed. This is entry-level knowledge in product management.

Call it conspiracy, call it “not forced” if you like. XenForo isn’t a la-la-land passion project; it’s a business and it operates like one.
