They're busy creating it.I'm still okay overall but it has been almost one year since @Kier announced the new version would be coming very soon (HYS threads at least).
One year is not very soon.
That is an issue on itself but the lack of transparency is worse imo. Why is it delayed for almost a year?
I can see if the editor is going to be replaced it adding time into the mix. That is an issue on itself but the lack of transparency is worse imo. Why is it delayed for almost a year?
I heard a rumour that Kier was moonlighting for Invision, maybe he just got confused.I'm still okay overall but it has been almost one year since @Kier announced the new version would be coming very soon (HYS threads at least).
Sounds very reasonable. But whatever it is, share it with the community. That's all I'm asking. The lack of transparency worries me slightly.I can see if the editor is going to be replaced it adding time into the mix.
First they have to decide on what they are going to replace it with... then they have to implement the changes for it ,which will probably end up being extensive if trying to keep backwards compatibility with many larger add-ons that are dependent upon the editor.
The editor issue is a fairly recent thing... so IF there is a change planned, the extended time is expected.
That's what they said about the Romans...
Yeah, that came up late enough that I almost wonder if it would happen in 2.3 but who knows? As @duderuud said, it would be nice to know if something like that is the case.I can see if the editor is going to be replaced it adding time into the mix.

No. We find out about new stuff at the exact time as everyone else.I have always wondered if they (XF) maintain some sort of back channel to the 3rd party devs so they know either not to continue on a project as the update will be nixing the need for an addon, or what type of changes they are going to have to focus on with their current addon(s)?
Owi! That kind of sucks.No. We find out about new stuff at the exact time as everyone else.
Yes this is what I've been told as well.No. We find out about new stuff at the exact time as everyone else.
Another way to look at it, is it would be better if they released 2.3 sooner so by the time you came round to upgrading it in Q4, the inevitable bugs one finds in a major update would have likely been ironed out and you'd be installing something like 2.3.1, or 2.3.2 etc. This is the scenario I prefer. So, frankly, if it takes until sometime in Q4, I am down with that.
