I reread the IPS offering, and it is still based on you have an IP product for installation. It sounds as though you could just get that and use it to SSO a WP, Joomla and XF site together, without any Invision products, but that is not how I'm reading it. You still need an Invision product from the sounds of it... for a master, and you can link in any software application with a slave.

This does that... swapping Invision for XF product. End result... you still need an Invision product for IP.Converge to work, just as you need atleast one XF forum for this one to work.

Its not IP Converge thought, its IP Connect that I'm talking about and it says you can have any master slave set up you like.

Sorry, yes, IP Connect. I was also reading the comments, and it seems this surpasses that one already. Invision state someone still needs to write a master or slave for other applications, same as this one, they aren't doing it for you for free, same as this one.

IP Connect is limited to working on a single domain, not cross domain like this one, being true cross network, and this one also works across different servers.

As you read the comments on that announcement, it seems there are limitations in which this one doesn't have.

My understanding of IP's new "core" is that it simply separates the user account control from the forums software into an independent application; thereby allowing you to use any of the current add-on packages as independent applications.

You still need to buy the "core" but instead of having to buy IP.Board to get the gallery, you'll now be able to buy the core+gallery, or core+content, or core+forums, etc. It's an SSO - but limited to their products on a single site; it just means you no longer have to buy IP.Board to use their software.

To the best of my knowledge this doesn't connect multiple IP applications at different sites/domains and it doesn't offer any home-grown (IP coded) third-party login bridges for things such as Joomla or Wordpress.

Essentially it is a simple separation of the user account management from the forums into its own separate module.

I think it's a smart move - now they can sell their add-ons as complete stand-alone products and appeal to a wider range of customers and developers.

Personally though, I wouldn't want to see XenSSO influenced by what IP are doing - XenSSO is a different product IMHO. (y)

Cheers,
Shaun :D

the point I was trying to make, was why spend time and money developing two different but the same systems. If they are interoperable then when someone develops a wordpress plug in which they will then it can be used by us etc.

Because the system that links them (OpenID) is very limited. It facilitates only part of the process, the rest has to be tailor made for the specific solution (ie. XenForo to XenForo). In 2.0 the connection between XF forums will be custom developed specifically for that purpose, without compromising to the limitations of OpenID or OpenAuth. It will still server OpenID connections for external applications that need it though.

Like clickfinity said, you should be able to see the download under Support > XenSSO > Releases.

When purchasing you will be redirected to this page but due to Paypal implementation XenForo uses it's not made that clear. I will improve upon that.

Naatan updated XenSSO - XenForo Single Sign On with a new update entry:

Fix permission error on some environments and other minor bug fixes

  • Increased curl timeout to 30
  • Disabled domain verification, it's your own responsibility if you wish to use unconventional url's (ie. localhost)
  • Added back Zend Session libraries as Zend OpenID relies on them
  • Fixed Zend OpenID permission errors by moving association data to XenForo's internal_data directory
  • Fixed minor typo

Thanks for reporting intradox. For now can you please downgrade to 1.0.8 or 1.0.7 (upload those files and "upgrade" with the xml of 1.0.8/1.0.7). I will look into the problem asap.

If you can report the exact errors as it occurs in your error log on the support site that would be very helpful (include as many details as you can).

I can't find 1.0.9 on your site. 1.0.7 is the latest available version. I have 1.0.8.
EDIT: Appears you took it down to fix bugs?

Yes, apologies Andy, just to be safe I took it down. While 1.0.9 had been tested on multiple environments (including a live environment) some issues will get through the cracks when they are specific to certain environmental configurations. Soon as I figure out what the problem is I'll make it available again. If you want to test the current version regardless feel free to send me a pm and I'll send it to you.

Hello, a feature to synchronize connectivity between sites is it intended please?

example:
5 site => a single connection for 5 site at once.

And thank you for this addon, I'm probably a future customer! :)

What do you mean Zephyr?

The add-on already installs into each site, collectively allowing a single sign on. You register once, log in at each site. Your profile registration details are pulled from the master, then create the user account at the slave the first time they login there. Their username is already reserved once they register it, so nobody else can register it, as every user gets registered at the master, therefore, when you register at a slave, you also get registered at the master. If the name exists, it will fail and say choose another name, unless you are that user, with the right username and password, in which case if you haven't logged into that site yet, it will grab your profile and create an account for you at that site.
