The process of porting to widgets has begun. I'm doing it live on Xenmods.com so you can track the progress. It probably looks like a huge downgrade at the moment but that's just because XenGrid is officially uninstalled and there's only one widget at the moment (the navigation block). I also have to go in and edit the templates to provide hooks (hence the navigation is on the right sidebar now instead of the left).

I'll say this... I'm glad you're going with this route and ditching XenGrid. Last time I looked at it I was not looking forward to having to try to support it on my styles :)

@Daniel Hood You mentioned to me that the Classifieds addon you are working on has a lot of functions that are the same or very similar. I see that Classifieds is very similar to xenreviews as it concerns item creation with advanced custom fields, filters, reviews, gallery, item status, item type, featured items, google maps, payments, wallet, drafts, item discussion, terms & conditions, many the same widgets, etc. Just to name a few. It seems to me that you will be creating much of the same functionality twice.

Could you elaborate on if this could be beneficial to the development of XenReviews? And if so how?

The benefit would come if anything needs to be duplicated, the process would be faster. For instance, I mentioned XenFields may need to be replaced, we'll see if that's the case. If that ends up happening, I won't have to necessarily start from scratch since I already have custom fields developed into Classifieds.

If XenReviews still has a ton of bugs after XenGrid and XenFields are replaced and/or fixed then we may end up just scrapping it and starting from the Classifieds code base (I would obviously have to work out the details exactly with Stuart). If that happened, then obviously it'd help because XenReviews wouldn't be starting at 0. I do not intend on doing this at the moment, just entertaining your hypotheticals. Though it is worth mentioning this is the route that another (well respected in the community) developer has recommended for me to take today. It's something I'm open to but don't want to rush into. First I want to get widgets going and potentially replace XenFields. I think most of the components of XenReviews are fine (I'd also like to point out I was around for a lot of the development process of building that, after departing is when XenGrid, XenCashier, and XenFields were introduced and it appears they became the primary focus).

How soon do you think an update will be released with these changes so we can start playing with it on our own sites, making custom widgets etc...

I am looking for a short description of what xenreview can do. What is it's goal? What are the limitations? I own the largest community website for Scuba and would love for peeps to be able to rate various manufacturers and their gear. Also, dive ops and instructors would be an awesome thing to have as well. I would love for it to include whether they owned/rented/touched the gear or were an actual client or student. Giving those who had dove the gear a bigger input makes sense to me, same with someone who was an actual client or student. I would also like if someone can amend their rating as well. Does this fit this? BTW, we just migrated to xenForo this past January, so the learning curve has been steep.

The short description would be that you can set up infinite categories with infinite custom fields that allow for a variety of data to be submitted. You'd be able to have separate categories for things such as scuba equipment, excursions, and instructors (and whatever else). Your user base (with permissions) would be able to add "items" that other users can review. There's discussion threads for each "item" being reviewed.

There's a lot more but you asked for brief so I hit the basics.

Which I have answered on at least one occasion.

I've been attempting to explain that that's the plan. Thanks for stepping in. I'd like for this thread to be productive. I was close to asking for it to be locked which I'd hate because I want lines of communication to remain open.

What line of communication? Because the only communication coming from you is one excuse after another. You should not take on other work, before you complete this for which you already took our money and now we are left with a broken mod and empty promises.

So how do you propose he supports his family?

While I somewhat agree that a certain level of commitment ought to be demonstrated towards completing this project, I have to point out that the constant labouring of the same point is likely going to be counter intuitive.

Daniel, please start demonstrating some real progress on this.

Everyone else please be mindful that the past can't be changed and if Daniel spends his future going over the same points then it certainly is likely to hinder him making progress.

This was my very first post here. And until now I held myself from commenting, but his lame excuses have frustrated me.

So how do you propose he supports his family?
Is he only guy that has a family to support? We all have a family to support and mine is a rather extended one. And the money he took from me, it could have been used to support them. And I am sure, it is the same thing for other people as well. So do not talk to me about how he is going to support his family because that is none of my concern. He simply should not have taken the money without giving us what we were promised.

I received much less than $3,000. I'd be surprised if after fees I got even $2,000.

That's over 6 months of min wage pay before taxes. Family to support or not, there is no reason the hours could not be found to complete it by now, given that large of a sum up front. Normally when you crowd fund something, it is under the impression this is the money required to live on for the time frame required to complete the project.

The Fair Labor Standards Act requires a minimum wage of $2.13 for tipped workers with the expectation that wages plus tips total no less than $7.25 per hour. The employer must pay the difference if total income does not add up to $7.25 per hour.

$3000.00 divided by $7.25 per = 413 hours

Staff members have posted in this thread several times now.

Constantly posting the same points over and over again is not helpful.

We understand the frustrations and can sympathise but I would like to remind everyone of the rules, specifically rule 12.

Acknowledging the above post, are there any problems with XR, what bugs are present and is it even up for sale still?

I need a functioning reviews system, I'm not totally sure what's wrong with this. Hopefully it adheres to the above to ask.
