XenForo lifetime support is not life time.

Hello,

I paid for XenForo Cloud for two months and then canceled the subscription. Now, I don't have enough privileges to post in some threads on this forum, and I cannot download resources.

So, I assume there is no actual lifetime support.

If you don't have an active Cloud plan or a self hosted license then you are not a customer and therefore can't access the customer forums or resources.

The lifetime support is valid while you are a Cloud customer.

Why do you want to download resources if you don't have a copy of XF?

The lifetime support is valid while you are a Cloud customer.
The phrase "The lifetime support is valid while you are a Cloud customer." contains a logical contradiction or bug because the term "lifetime support" implies support for the entire lifetime (indefinitely), but the phrase restricts it to the period only while you are a Cloud customer, which can end.

Explanation of the logical bug:

  • Lifetime support means support continues for the whole lifetime of the user or product without a predetermined end.
  • Valid while you are a Cloud customer means support is only available as long as the customer chooses to stay subscribed.
  • These two conditions contradict each other: support cannot be both lifetime (indefinite) and limited to a specified customer status period.

Summary:

  • "Lifetime support" suggests no end to support.
  • "While you are a Cloud customer" sets a definite end if the customer cancels.
Therefore, the phrase is logically inconsistent because the "lifetime" qualifier is negated by the conditional support period.

I thought it was obvious.

Why would you need to download resources if you no longer have the Xenforo software to install it into?

You're making a huge assumption that the phrase "lifetime" refers to the life of an individual person. It does not say that.

Indeed, if you read the Cloud service agreement - which is the definitive source of truth on this matter, the language is very clear:

9. Support
For the duration of your subscription to the Service, We shall provide You with support to respond to any problems ("Support") You are experiencing with the Service which result in it not complying with its description or the demonstration, as made available on Our website ("Problem").

"For the duration of your subscription to the service" - or in other words, for the "lifetime" of your subscription, meaning that you won't have to pay extra for support (like you do with self-hosted instances) for so long as you maintain your subscription.

Nothing in the agreement suggests or implies that this applies or should apply to any other use of the word "lifetime" that you choose to infer.

It turns out that the phrase 'Lifetime support' in the screenshot is misleading and is a marketing trick. The word 'lifetime' without the words 'product' or 'license' is associated specifically with a human lifetime.

Moreover, there is support in the form of texts in the customer area, and there is support in the form of presence on this site and communication primarily with other XenForo clients, not with the XenForo team. This option is also disabled.

But you don't have a self-hosted license. How can you get lifetime support if, in the case of a cloud subscription, you get lifetime support as long as you pay? If you don't pay, you don't have a license and therefore no support. Isn't that obvious?
