Xenforo hosting specialist?

Ive got a reply here from nimbus that their were problems with the contactform. So no prob, waiting for their response now.

Extremely nice to hear where the big boards are hosted.
I hope others will follow in telling:)

People are all over, rapidswitch, 1and1, server complete, rackspace, softlayer, linode, ovh, nimbus etc etc etc...

Hi @Robby I PM'd you the other day, but never heard back from you. Feel free to reply to discuss hosting with me. I sent you links of some of the big boards we host too in the PM.

Do you have a website?

I don't atm.. Soon :) Right now I just handle support via PM, email or text/calling my cell. I have several million post boards that have had no issue handling it this way. I sold my company last year, but all of my big customers all contacted me and only wanted me to host them even after the sale.. Several even said I would be the only person they'd ever trust to host them.. So for now I just been doing a custom quote per site needs sort of thing.

One concern. at Nimbus they dont have free backups?
How do you guys backup xenforo?

I use Nimbus's backup service but you could easily do regular dumps and rysncs yourself. For £10 a month I don't think that's worth the hassle though.

I use R1soft to back up all my clients hourly. It backs up the entire server too. Clients can also restore even just 1 file via the cPanel plug-in for R1Soft.

I thaught most hosts do this for free.
I never had a host who charges for the backups.
Is their any difference?

If you have a panel (cPanel for example), you can do internal backups by yourself (but it would take you disk space). The best practice is doing backups in a different distention - daily. For example:
https://backupsy.com/index.php

You can get 250GB for $5/month or 500GB for $7/month. Having backups on the same server is nice, but it's not a good practice. It takes only one time to understand this, then you will learn not to rely on same-server/distention backups.

Nimbus's backups are stored off-site. I.e. they store them in a different country, to ensure that if something would go terribly wrong (Scots invading London and making Haggis out of the servers at the data center), the backups can be used to get you up and running again in no time.
