Xen Pushover (Push Notifications) [Deleted]

If it helps: I deactivated the add-on, then there are no server errors logged when someone likes the picture in the gallery.
As soon as I activate the add-on, the server errors occur again the same way. It seems like the initiation of the push itself does generate the server error.
The exact cause is quite clear, but what is leading to that cause is unusual.

The exact cause is I try to render the content of the alert template, which should return some HTML. For some reason, rendering the HTML is blank, therefore we get this no document registered error.

I just can't work out why the rendering of the alert template would fail.

Is this something you would be happy for me to debug on your server? I will need FTP access and Admin CP access to do this.

Hi Chris,

I know you said PushBullet was something to think about...but would you add it if we paid for the development of this? I am looking to replace this with xfrocks one but obviously without PushBullet I would need to keep his too.

Thanks

Never looked at Pushbullet before. So that basically makes your phone + PC browser able to take push notifications, that's interesting. Kind of makes your PC like a phone for messaging and chatting. But oh wait my phone is a PC with a phone app right? So now in addition to the messenger on my iPhone and WaZapp, I'll start getting people wanting me to be on pushbullet. dang man how many of these apps are there.

Yes going to need a bit more info.

Have you created the Pushover application? Have you set up the API key and subscription key in the Admin CP options?

Have you given yourself the permissions to allow you to use Pushover?

Have you subscribed to Pushover in the External Accounts page?

I attached some images of what I have now. Do I need to install any apps in my phone to make it work?

Thanks for this Chris, bought and installed today and about to start testing with some members (works fine for me). Only one problem installing, I couldn't see an external accounts option on my profile, this turned out to be a permission issue.

Anyhow, I do have a question. I don't really understand this option:

I set it to 0 to test alerts were being sent to me. It was set to 60 by default (my "active" time session set is 60 mins). What's the reference to five minutes?

I don't really get what this does and what value I should use. Can you explain in numpty terms please

This add-on sends notifications to a Pushover client.

From the resource description:
With Xen Pushover installed on your forum, your users will be able to receive their forum alerts and notification of conversation messages directly to their Pushover client.

There is a Pushover client available for iOS and Android including Apple Watch and a desktop client.

So, yeah, you need to install a Pushover client for this to work.

It's poorly worded.

If you have been active on the forum within the last 5 minutes, we delay sending anything to Pushover for X seconds. X is the value of this option, the delay timer.

Let's assume the delay timer is set to 60 seconds. If you were last active 4 minutes ago, and someone mentions you in a post, the alert being pushed to Pushover will be delayed by 60 seconds. This is done because if you're sporadically active on the forum, it can sometimes be annoying to get push alerts for something you're only a click away from reading anyway.

I can't seem to get alerts for new posts in a forum I am watching, only for new posts in specific threads I am watching.

This would be useful to push alerts for reported posts in the mod forum.

Have I missed a setting for this somewhere?
