The way I see the whole spam situation. It beats adsense.

Jokery aside *gun held to head* there's no spam everything is fine here, your eyes are deceiving you.

XF has tools to deal with spam effectively, though it requires someone with the privileges to be online.

The spam filters are third part add-ons and the XF Forum is supposed to be a demo of out of the box XF.

Even with the add-on spam filters on, even my small traffic forum sees a couple spammers a day registering and requiring manual email address banning.

Indeed xenforo is currently suffering from spams hopefully we see an update regarding spam prevention. I am thankful for all of the resources that we have to block spam but admins are not on xenforo.com all of the time so they need software update that can help reduce the amount of spam. Again we can't block spams completely because they always find away to out like in any other software.

I actually agree with that... I really don't like adsense.

I've started using 'Whats New' to find & delete the spam in addition to waiting for people to report posts. Please report the spam if you see it, especially if it is in the middle of a thread.

As far as I can tell, every moderator has been working hard dealing with the spam.

We need to draw a picture of the usual spammer.
It'll be someone with Ugg boots, a Louis Vuitton handbag, some viagra in their pocket. What else ?

Edit. looks like a Russian. wearning a shirt that says xrumer.

looks depressed - on some antidepressant (escitalopram, or whatever antidepressant).

Mike made some changes today to hopefully stem the tide of spambots, but the ones that registered prior to this may still be posting for a few days... hopefully after that it will trickle off to nothing.
I think someone might need to prune out some of those QA CAPTCHA questions
"what colour is a ripe banana" will be in most Xrumers users textcapctha.txt and probably be in the Xrumer core

It only takes one weak question for a bots to get through, see:

http://xenforo.com/community/thread...oing-itself-halloween-2012.39931/#post-437058
http://ixrumer.com/xrumer/

Those who read topic "How to teach Xrumer to new text captcha" – know that our software is able to pass such protection like “What is current year?”, “2+2=?” etc.

Who didn’t read this topic we recommend to read it:
In that topic is described how to train XRumer to new protections by editing textcapctha.txt. With release of version 7.07 this process becomes easiest. Also is created mechanism of collective teaching of text CAPTCHA. That means all results of training are stored on our server and after are distributed to all our customers. Due to this system success rate is increased.
You will still see bots get through, unless something else has changed,
... but at least something has been done at XF, which is good

Tenants,

You seem to know a lot about xrumer. I didn't even know it existed, but have learned a lot from the information you have posted about it. I even went over to the spammer boards and did some reading. I see a lot of folks selling lists. So let me ask you this question: Is there any way I can check to see if my board is listed in the master list? I am pretty sure it is...as....according to XenUtiles registration logs, I have received 3100 denied spambot registrations over the past four days. But still, I would like to see if I'm in the lists already. Just curious I guess.
