Be fair, how many of us forum geeks are really that well spoken, or even want to do public speaking at all? If you want to criticize him, try criticizing on the content of his presentation.
The fact of the matter is someone who is hired as the frontman of a company
should be good at public speaking, as it is part of the job.
A major portion of what my job does (At least for the part oft he year I'm not dealing with the interns) is public speaking, whether it is in internal meetings, to University students discussing the intern program, other companies, or at conventions.
Uming nearly every other sentence shows a lack of preparedness, and makes the presentation incredibly awkward. I'm not sure whether or not you've been in the audience of a speaker who does it, but it is
extremely uncomfortable as you feel just how tense they are.
Also, some of the most eloquent and best speakers I know are people who dress up as wizards and play old school D&D and real life roleplay as vampires for Vampire the Masquerade. The fact of the matter is that he shouldn't have been in the job that he was (He's left since then) if he cannot do guest speaking, especially at something that is essentially about pitching your product.
About as many times as people who keep viewing the past ForumCon.com videos, keep posting about them, keeping the ForumCon.com topic floating at the top of "What's New".
I'm sure the VigLink person watching is thinking, with enemies like this, who needs friends.
It prompted me to go visit the VigLink site, ask some questions (what forums does their product work with) and look into it further when I see them on June 12 (aka "XenForo Shoe Drop Day").
Read my response above.
I don't see any need for myself to go to ForumCon, and from what I've heard it wasn't really that informative to others that went the last year. I would have been interested in seeing Kier guest speak, as he's always had interesting views and ideas for forum in general, and in seeing Winter Wong speech, but when there is only one speaker each year (With Kier cancelling the last year there were none) there isn't much interest there for me.
