5.5" for a phone is just ludicrous (in my humble opinion). If you want a tablet, get a tablet?

Personally, I'm very happy with the size of my 4" iPhone 5, but I'll check out the 4.7" 6 when it arrives in the Apple Store.
That's just what I did, and the size of the 6 plus is ludicrous, it's all about comfort to me. Most peoples hands cannot hold an iPhone 6 plus comfortably. Like you I miss my iPhone 4 but it's just too slow even compared to the iPhone 5. I will be keeping my iPhone 5, especially since I just received the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4.8.0 which by the way is very nice. I'm an Apple person but very impressed by Samsungs Tablet.

I was going to pre-order it, but I am just going to wait until its released so I can check both of them out...I want something that feels comfortable.
You never get the first batch of iphones anyway, always wait a while until they get all the bugs and kinks worked out. Like the bending, hairgate etc.

Got the wife the 6, feel as though 6+ is for heavy heavy users of their phones as in more so than just talking to people with it.

I just upgraded my work iPhone 4s to a Galaxy S5. Very happy with that choice, it's a much better phone. I'll go hide now...
I currently have the iphone 5 and have always been an Apple guy but I'm oh so tempted to jump ship and get Samsung's latest Galaxy phone. I recently acquired Samsungs Galaxy Tab 4 4.8.0 tablet which is making me even lean further towards Samsung but I love the resell value and familiarity of Apple. Kind of like being caught between two lovers, lol

Over in my house we have a saying:

Iphones are for women and non computer type people.
Samsung /android system is for males and more computer minded individuals.

The galaxy 5 is way better than the I6 . I get to test both side by side in my house. it isn't even close really.

That kind of talk might get me beat up in my house. My wife is taking her last course for her masters in computer science.

I know what you mean. My wife and one of my sons has the i6 myself and my other son have the s5. Its all in good fun. We always fight about it here. Its pretty funny our arguments. But I have used them side by side and the battery in the s5 is better for sure. What ever makes anyone happy- they are both good phones

I tried both an am not impressed with either. The new form factor is too long and not wide enough. Neither fits well in a pocket.

And Apple has now shown that it is perfectly willing to release iOS updates that make older devices all but obsolete. And the old hype about "it just works"? Laughable. I've seen more crashes and lockups on iOS devices over the past year than I ever do on other platforms.

Apple has always released iOS versions with the intention of making older phones "obsolete". It's usually the last 2-3 generations that receive the update because it moves similar to hardware.

The same occurs in the Android world, but isn't as pronounced.

Biggest problem I've had with ALL of the Samsung phones is that crappy radio they use. The Samsung Fascinate, the S3, and the S4 all had crappy reception for my home area. The Motorola's stomped them and when I got my iPhone 4 it was better than any of the Samsungs which constantly dropped calls. The local Verizon store was even aware of it.
The iPhone 6 I have now has better reception than the S4 (won't waste the money on another Samsung product after getting burnt on 3 that I paid full price for).

In other news, I still use an iphone 4 with scotch tape holding the fragmented pieces together. Oddly, 'breaking it' resulted in me being able to hold the phone in my left hand and not lose signal.
