What is Cloudflare ? How does it help webmasters ?

Hi,"

its not feasible to do that with xf uploads. besides, that would defeat the entire point of the waf as it would open an attack vector."
Possibly. But I can only give you the things that will make the annoyance go away.

"those hitting the dataserver are the ones to complain, and if there are always problems with a datacenter then i am always fielding complaints and being asked to troubleshoot something that is out of my depth; networking."
Totally understand. Couldn't these issues potentially happen with a hosting provider as well, however? Even hosts can have issues with their servers at times, and I don't know an easy way around this. What I will say: We always improve our monitoring systems when we have an issue & we always build in new safeguards so that particular issue doesn't happen again. We don't like downtime any more than our customers do.

Yes, but typically when a host has a problem, it affects all the users of a site, not just a few here and there. The odd problem popping up that can't be reproduced on our end makes troubleshooting a nightmare because it adds yet another layer to the troubleshooting process, and one that is annoying to deal with, at that.

Also, a single server providing data tends to be much more reliable than having hundreds of servers providing data, because when you have hundreds of machines working to serve a site, the chances of one of them being broken down is much higher than one server for everybody.

Nothing can be done about that aside from growing to the size of Google, it's just an inherent flaw of your system.

Here's hoping that happens.

Understood. That's why we make it easy to temporarily deactivate CloudFlare when there's a system issue (settings->deactivate). We go direct to your server with that option.

My host moved my site onto their new play area, this is my (their) current set up for moi :) They're not even charging me anything at the moment.

"The system is hosted in our datacentre suite across a few racks and has a frontend loadbalancer and a number of HTTP servers which do the PHP processing, and then high performance SSD RAID MySQL servers, and bespoke backend storage which is mirrored and backed up offsite. WE'll be adding CDN options soon too (think Cloudflare but with better performance/reliability), and we have other ideas we're testing too."

Don't worry Shamil they won't be stealing your burst.net servers, they've probably went for somewhere more reputable.

Erm, BurstNET only houses communication servers.... not any VPS nodes - I presume you are well aware of that given the extensive nature of your prodding into the network. We don't even use their servers. Have you even used BurstNET EU? They seem to be better than the BurstNET in PA.

So why don't you educate me of the extent of your "network" I also read somewhere else that you had technicians who would finely tune your VPS packages to your customers.

I'm just going to come out and be blunt I think you're a crook.

I'd rather not mislead the thread with this information, plus, I don't think it would be wise to disclose this information to anyone who does not need this information.

That your opinion, and I respect that.

Hi,

Just a quick update:

We're shooting for a UK datacenter (datacentre) online by the end of Sept. Give or take a little bit, of course.

Hi Damon,

I have been using cloudflare and I quite like it. However I am attempting to update my PHP installation on my web server (VPS) to 5.3.8. However I am unable to do so because it is throwing a syntax error when trying to load your module:

mod_cloudflare.so

Any suggestions my friend?

Could you possible copy and paste the error into the conversation?

It is installed, that's the issue. It's running perfectly fine now, it's only when running easy apache for an update.
