View default template/components before reverting?

Can one view the original template/component before reverting back?

Another thing that would be nice is to be able to save copies of templates as you go along (like the 'other' place has). I am assuming there is an add-on, but have not looked yet.

If you create a new style with no parent then that will be a default uncustomized style. You can refer to that style to see default templates.
