vBulletin Big Board Importer [vBulletin 3 + vBulletin 4] [Paid] 1.5.0

No permission to buy ($150.00)
Jake,

Any idea how soon this would be coming? I'd much prefer to keep IP log data. It will introduce headaches along the way I think for our mod team if all IP history is wiped.

Besides xf_ip, there's also an extra ip_id column in xf_conversation_message that isn't being filled into. That may be on purpose, but the exporter doesn't even put a dummy value in for the export. I've padded it in the meanwhile, to stop the Warnings on import.

arn

Untested, but this should work.

1) Delete the xf_ip table in your XF database.

2) Run this query to create a new xf_ip table using the old IPv4 schema:

Code:
	CREATE TABLE xf_ip (
ip_id INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
		user_id INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL,
		content_type varbinary(25) NOT NULL,
		content_id INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL,
action varbinary(25) NOT NULL DEFAULT '',
		ip INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL,
		log_date INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL,
		PRIMARY KEY (ip_id),
		KEY user_id_log_date (user_id, log_date),
		KEY ip_log_date (ip, log_date),
		KEY content_type_content_id (content_type, content_id),
		KEY log_date (log_date)
	) ENGINE = InnoDB CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_general_ci

3) Uncomment this import line in the Import.php script:

Code:
//importTable('xf_ip');

Now when you run the import it will import those IP records.

4) After the import, run these queries to convert to the new IPv6 system:

Code:
			ALTER TABLE xf_ip
CHANGE ip ip_old INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL,
				ADD ip VARBINARY(16) NOT NULL;

			UPDATE xf_ip SET ip = UNHEX(LPAD(HEX(ip_old), 8, '0'));

			ALTER TABLE xf_ip
				DROP ip_old,
				DROP KEY ip_log_date,
				ADD KEY ip_log_date (ip, log_date);

(these queries found in library/XenForo/Install/Upgrade/1030010-130a.php)

That should do it.

This whole process will need to be redone for each import.

@Jake Bunce

Great! Thanks... that should get me going. I'll report back if there are any issues/changes.

edit: Looks like xf_moderator_log also requires a similar query in the upgrade that will affect vB imports.

Code:
ALTER TABLE xf_moderator_log CHANGE ip_address ip_address_old INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, ADD ip_address VARBINARY(16) NOT NULL DEFAULT ''

UPDATE xf_moderator_log SET ip_address = UNHEX(LPAD(HEX(ip_address_old), 8, '0'))

ALTER TABLE xf_moderator_log DROP ip_address_old

2 suggested changes for @Jake Bunce & @Slavik to consider:

First suggestion

In vb, there are two ways to hide a forum (meaning a subforum, not the site itself). One way is to set "Forum is Active" to No. The second way is "Display Order Set to '0' to not display this item". In Export.php, only the first method is accounted for. Some of us keep certain forums invisible in vb with the second method.

In Export.php, changing

Code:
IF(forum.options & 1, 1, 0) AS display_in_list

to

Code:
IF(forum.options & 1, IF(forum.displayorder = 0, 0, 1), 0) AS display_in_list

will account for both methods

Second suggestion

In Export.php, changing

Code:
\'1\' AS receive_admin_email

to

Code:
IF(options & 16, 1, 0) AS receive_admin_email

will preserve the user's selection to receive or not receive admin emails.

Not sure if anyone else is working on an import now. There are some changes that I've had to make and document along the way. I'll post a bunch of notes when I finally get done.

One tip though...

if you have any custom tags like [youtube], you can replace them during export by editing the Export.php _getReplaceBBCodeCommand function's sed line

Adding this should do it without having to do a search/replace after the import.

Code:
s/\[youtube\]([^&[]*?).*\[\/youtube\]/\[media=youtube\]\1\[\/media\]/ig;\'

Does anyone have a recommended way to handle User Notes? I saw a couple of plugins, but couldn't tell if anyone had particular luck with any.

thanks

There is no equivalent feature in XF into which to import vB's user notes. If you want the same functionality then you need to find an addon. I don't have any recommendations though.

Hey @Jake Bunce; and @Slavik;

Is installing XF 1.2 still a requirement ? i have XF 1.4 installed and trying to export the data first, it is saying the following:

Grand Total For Everything: 9 minutes, 44 seconds (116,983 records)

Although i have around 1.3 M posts and 23k users. What could be the problem ?

No longer a requirement, the new version works with 1.4 out the box.

Open up one of the 11kb files and see what it says.

-?, --help Display this help and exit.
  -I, --help Synonym for -?
--auto-rehash Enable automatic rehashing. One doesn't need to use
'rehash' to get table and field completion, but startup
and reconnecting may take a longer time. Disable with
                      --disable-auto-rehash.
(Defaults to on; use --skip-auto-rehash to disable.)
  -A, --no-auto-rehash
No automatic rehashing. One has to use 'rehash' to get
table and field completion. This gives a quicker start of
mysql and disables rehashing on reconnect.
  --auto-vertical-output
Automatically switch to vertical output mode if the
result is wider than the terminal width.

Enable named commands. Named commands mean this program's
internal commands; see mysql> help . When enabled, the
named commands can be used from any line of the query,
otherwise only from the first line, before an enter.
Disable with --disable-named-commands. This option is

default database is the one named at the command line.
--pager[=name] Pager to use to display results. If you don't supply an
option, the default pager is taken from your ENV variable
PAGER. Valid pagers are less, more, cat [> filename],
etc. See interactive help (\h) also. This option does not
work in batch mode. Disable with --disable-pager. This
                      option is disabled by default.

Password to use when connecting to server. If password is
not given it's asked from the tty.
-P, --port=# Port number to use for connection or 0 for default to, in
                      order of preference, my.cnf, $MYSQL_TCP_PORT,

                      history file.
-r, --raw Write fields without conversion. Used with --batch.

--pager[=name] Pager to use to display results. If you don't supply an
option, the default pager is taken from your ENV variable
PAGER. Valid pagers are less, more, cat [> filename],
etc. See interactive help (\h) also. This option does not
work in batch mode. Disable with --disable-pager. This

--prompt=name Set the mysql prompt to this value.
--protocol=name The protocol to use for connection (tcp, socket, pipe,
                      memory).
-q, --quick Don't cache result, print it row by row. This may slow
down the server if the output is suspended. Doesn't use
                      history file.
-r, --raw Write fields without conversion. Used with --batch.
--reconnect Reconnect if the connection is lost. Disable with
--disable-reconnect. This option is enabled by default.
(Defaults to on; use --skip-reconnect to disable.)
-s, --silent Be more silent. Print results with a tab as separator,

--ssl Enable SSL for connection (automatically enabled with
                      other flags).
--ssl-ca=name CA file in PEM format (check OpenSSL docs, implies
                      --ssl).
--ssl-capath=name CA directory (check OpenSSL docs, implies --ssl).
--ssl-cert=name X509 cert in PEM format (implies --ssl).

--ssl-key=name X509 key in PEM format (implies --ssl).
  --ssl-verify-server-cert
Verify server's "Common Name" in its cert against
hostname used when connecting. This option is disabled by
                      default.
-t, --table Output in table format.
--tee=name Append everything into outfile. See interactive help (\h)
also. Does not work in batch mode. Disable with
--disable-tee. This option is disabled by default.
-u, --user=name User for login if not current user.
-U, --safe-updates Only allow UPDATE and DELETE that uses keys.

It appears to not like the command. This requires debugging. For example, find this code for posts:

Change to an echo statement to get the command and try running it manually.

Or send me a PM with SSH access and I can take a look.

Here it is:

Code:
mysql -hlocalhost **DBNAME** **USER** **PASS** -N -q -e "SET NAMES binary;SELECT thread.threadid AS thread_id, thread.forumid AS node_id, REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(thread.title, '&', '&'), '<', '<'), '>', '>'), '"', '\"') AS title, thread.replycount AS reply_count, thread.views AS view_count, thread.postuserid AS user_id, thread.postusername AS username, thread.dateline AS post_date, thread.sticky, IF(thread.visible = 0, 'moderated', IF(thread.visible = 2, 'deleted', 'visible')) AS discussion_state, thread.open AS disucssion_open, IF(thread.pollid > 0, 'poll', '') AS discussion_type, thread.firstpostid AS first_post_id, (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM reputation as reputation WHERE reputation.postid = thread.firstpostid AND (reputation > 0 OR (reason = '' AND reputation = 0))) AS first_post_likes, thread.lastpost AS last_post_date, thread.lastpostid AS last_post_id, thread.lastposterid AS last_post_user_id, thread.lastposter AS last_post_username, '0' AS prefix_id FROM thread as thread ORDER BY thread.threadid" | sed -r 's/\&\#[0-9]*?\;//ig' | iconv -f LATIN1 -t UTF8 > /home/**PATHTOIMPORTDATA**/importData/xf_thread.txt

Running this command manually will create the same output as in the script. Nothing changed.

Make sure your Username and Password variables have "-u" and "-p" as the first two characters.

Hey,

Thank you for this, forum was exported and imported in around 2hours and 30 mins.

However, something went wrong with the import. Now, i cannot see the forums/threads that existed before. Also, when i login with my (administrator) username i cannot see anything.

It gives me this message:

You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action.

I can login to the Admin panel, however i can only see the tools bar and only the facebook integration of the tools menu.

Any idea on what went wrong ?

Screenshots of the forum now as a guest:

Thanks

Check all your permission sets
What do you mean ?

The importer removed my administrator priv from xenforo. I dont have access anymore to the admin page.

What do you mean by permission sets ? Is it inside the xenforo admin ?

For the admin access, you may have to modify your user in the database probably to make them an admin. There's an "is_admin" column. Also add them to config as super admin:

For the no permission issue, try Rebuilding Master Data to fix it:

I have a custom userfield for "Gender" in the VB4 site that I can Export/Import as a custom userfield no problem, but what I obviously want is to import that custom field into the core gender field of XF.

The data in the custom field is male/female just the same as the core field so my question is what would be the best way to copy this over from my custom field in VB to the core user field in XF?
