XF 2.2 utf8mb4_general_ci conversion

What is the best approach to convert to utf8mb4_general_ci, is after upgrade to xenforo 2.2 or is best to do in xenforo 1.5 before upgrade?

I would suggest converting prior to the upgrade.

I'm afraid I had a bit of a brain-fail there - do the upgrade first, because one XenForo 2 is installed, there is a command line tool built into XF2 to do the conversion automatically.
