XF 1.5 Users' watched threads not tracking properly

We've had several reports in the past week of users going to their watched threads list and clicking on the thread title, only to be taken to the first post of the thread. These are multipage threads that the users have definitely browsed in the past. Any ideas as to what would be causing this before I go digging in? It doesn't seem to be a universal problem.

It would likely be this option "Read marking data lifetime" in the ACP, under Threads and discussions. 30 days is default, if a user has not read a particular thread within the stated time frame the thread would be considered "read".

I've never come across that option before, thanks. I'll follow up with one of the users to see if that might be the case here.
