@Xon sorry for the question, little confused about this. Would this plugin allow us to promote users if they have a specific custom field filled out? The field is a URL that could be anything.
 
I mostly use this for checkboxs/radioboxes, but if a notice criteria matches it should be usable in the user group promotion criteria as well.

XF really needs a "test" feature on things like user promotions or notices :(
 
Now if I could only get this to work to show me Users that have any value in a specific field ( basically field is not empty ) , that would be a dream :)

I created a user group X, and then I created a field: Do you want to enter group X ? required during registration. I then created a user promotion tied to the YES of the field. now users who go to preferene and press YES on the field enter group X immediately. instead before they had to wait for the 30 min cron of xenforo (you can change it to every minute as well)

We have a forum that requires users to agree to the forum rules in advance. They use a checkbox in their profile preferences to note their compliance. Since I wanted users to have immediate access to the new feature when they checked the box instead of waiting the possible hour for the cron job to run I installed this addon.

Once people have agreed, the preference choice disappears from their profile.

I have one user (maybe more) who has the preference checked but does not have the usergroup of the promotion.

Is it possible I got something wrong on the install?
 
That should work, it is how I've implemented a number of features on my own site.

You would need to check if there any other criteria which could be preventing the user-group promotion being applied. I'ld recommend doing a "user group promotion rebuild" which will check every user and re-apply if the promotion is actually applying.
 
Thank you. It turned out the problem was a corrupted promotion that needed to be deleted and recreated with a different name. It and your addon are working fine now.

@Xon so it is still not possible to set a criteria to match a non-empty user custom field?
