URL Portion (SEO)

Hi,

We have just ported our forums from vbulletin to xenforo. On the old forum we used vBSEO for SEO purposes and on XF we have switched to friendly urls.

Now i noticed in the nodes tree that you can manually enter a URL portion so forum ID's are not displayed in a forum.

Before i am going to wreck myself by renaming 180 forums I would like to know if this has a noticeable positive effect on SEO or that it's just an aesthetic choice.

Have you redirected your old vBSEO urls? If yes, just leave the default clean URL structure of XF. Should work fine.

No, I haven't. Seems Mr Googlebot is already rebuilding a lot of links.

In XF we now have Friendly URL's enabled.

So there is no significant advantage in using the URL portion and manually enter it? Then ill just leave the forumID in. Saves a lot of work
