Our members are complaining that their photos are uploading sideways, are there any bugs or tips to share?

XF handles that automatically but it requires the EXIF functions to available to PHP. Should just be a case of installing / activating that extension.

Hmmm, our systems admin wrote a script to remove the exif data for security purposes, how do we work around this?

We do the re-rotation based on EXIF data during upload. As long as that script doesn't remove the EXIF data before we get to it, the rotation should work. Though often it's usually just a case that the EXIF functions aren't available to PHP. It's worth double checking that they are installed and enabled.

We're still having problems with this Chris, the script we had 3 different developers create, are not working.

From what I was told, attachments strip GPS data, why doesn't your gallery do the same by default?

Is it not the same process for both?

Attachments would strip EXIF/GPS data if they force a re-size, otherwise it'll be untouched.

Without a sample of the image that is failing to be auto-rotated, my only suggestion is a server-side configuration fault.
