XF 2.0 Upgrade 1.5 to 2.0.9 xf_post and /var Problem

Hello
I can not upgrade because the folder /var in my server is full 100% During the upgrade ( my xf_post size = 25GB )
The upgrade makes a temporary copy form xf_posts , which increases the size of database folder /var
When there is no enough space The process is interrupted.
In case try to upgrade again I find size is much lower, I seem to have lost a lot of rows

Is there a way to solve the problem?

move MySql outside /var to /home then edit my.cnf file to match the new location of MySql
