XF 2.0 Trying to upgrade beta from 3 to 6

cannot get cpanel - filemanger - extract to work in community folder. when i go to URL install says I already have beta 3 installed...tried it 4 times already!

You did not overwrite the old files with the new ones so you are trying to install beta 3 again.

What was the issue?

I’m sure it will have just been a case of uploading the files to the wrong place, given that the new files were not being detected.

In ordee to upgrade you need to put files at correct location

Do not copy and paste upload folder to root directory and expect it will upgrade.

To have upgrade u need to place files which are inside upload folder to root directory if forum is installed directly on domain else in sub directory where xf is installed.

When u paste the files to server the prompt will come for skiping or overwritting the files on server.

U need to overwrite all files which are asked for successful upgrade.

Note: take backup of file and db, before performing upgrade

I went back to doing it via FTP client instead of cpanel. Now I have to do it all over again because another upgrade
