This is implied in the first post but there will only be one Preview and it will not be updated.

The next release will be 2.3.8 stable.

@Chris D — is there a new flag we should be using for preview builds?

d = release state
1 → alpha
3 → beta
5 → release candidate
6 → preview (maybe?)
7 → stable

Not really. It's up to you.

Our approach for this is 2030870 (usually indicating stable) is the Preview version ID
2030871 (usually indicating a patch release) is the Stable version ID

XF 2.3.8 preview seems to run just fine on my big board live.

I really appreciate all the bug fixes. Sone were quite annoying.

I like the Preview idea. I feel like it's the same as before and this normally would have been official release, but since there's the odd bug or two after a release, the now "official" release is the previous patch. The reason this works is many people have stated how they wait a few days after a release to see if there's bugs or a patch. This new way, there's no waiting since the official release will have addressed those bugs. I'll be waiting for the official and will not hesitate, thank you.
