So...all of the rest of us who paid for and loved the addon will get short-changed because of one bad apple?![]()
When you get a review like that, my advise is just to comment on it in a calm and polite manner that both rejects the most negative contentions of the review and shows your professionalism. Readers will see that, they'll see the other positive reviews and comments in the discussion thread, as well as seeing how often you respond and address concerns and suggestions, and they'll know that that one really negative review was someone probably either behaving childishly or who just didn't know what he was doing. In other words, give people more credit, you won't have to convince most of them that that one person was out to get you, most of them will be able to figure it out for themselves. And next time you get angry or upset like that because of another's actions, you might want to take a few days before deciding on any action, to see how you'll feel then. In this case, for example, you might spare yourself the negative feelings caused by one negative person, but you're also robbing yourself of all the positive feedback from those who appreciated your work.I worked so hard with this and other add-ons. I've given the highest priority to support issues. Reading that my add-on partially is not working, is full of bugs and has performance issues and that the support is not so funny. I could not convince XF to understand that the review was a pure revenge because the reviewers latest review was rejected. It's apparently perfectly OK to write such kind of reviews and XF don't want to get involved in resolving disputes. It feels I'd better do something else if I'm that easily offended by a single review.
We actually don't necessarily disagree with this and it's something we have discussed. But at the moment it is the "Resource Manager" review system, and as such it is only appropriate to use it for reviewing resources. Though in this situation, it would likely mean that the original review may have not been deleted.IMHO Xenforo review system should allow developers to rate customers. that would protect good developers from abusive rating, but also helps potential customers to decide, which reviews are objective and which ones are subjective.
The first review was quite rude, using the word "scam" which isn't appropriate. The second one (which we won't delete) doesn't use such words, but does claim "bad support". I don't believe this claim to be true based on what I've seen but it is, again, a subjective thing that we can't get involved in.Sounds quite reasonable on the whole, Chris. You can't always expect reviewers to be the most fair - such as when writing a review and complaining about an addon not having features it doesn't claim to have! - but as long as people are being polite about it and reasonable sounding, there's only so much you can do from an admin/moderator perspective.
@farang we've all been where you are. Bad reviews will happen. The solution isn't to delete everything and disappear. XenForo receives bad reviews sometimes. It's never pleasant, but imagine where we'd all be if we let that get that better of us
As it stands, the request to delete your account is denied. If necessary take a few days away to reflect on things and if you still feel the same after that then get back in touch with us and we will remove your account. Should you want your resources to be restored, we will be happy to do that (and we'll delete the last few messages, too), just let us know.
To be clear, we deleted an earlier review which seemed to be criticising things that were not relevant to the add-on itself, then a subsequent review was added which primarily took issue with two areas were the reviewer felt this add-on should support but currently doesn't (Search results and tags results).
The original review wasn't appropriate because it was clearly irrelevant in the context of the resource itself. The second review was appropriate because it was about the resource. At that point, it's a user vs author situation that's subjective enough that there's no benefit to see us get involved in it. If we deleted every single review that criticised a resource then there would be no point in having a review system, because it would only contain positive reviews.
You don't have to apologise. Your decision now just shows you're getting mature and ready for such life situations. That's positive and has optimistic future. Well, at least in my point of view.Thanks. You are probably right.
What I have done today isn't professional. I have deleted all my resources and I have asked to get my user account deleted. Furthermore the Fetchapp account has been deleted. These actions are irreversible. I guess I got depressed after the reviews which I found very unfair. That didn't put the last nail in the coffin though... When I realized there is no way to get "justice" I just felt that I want to get out of the whole business. Anyway I do it for fun. The money I earn is just "coffee money" where I live. I just wanted out of the situation. I apologize for my lack of professionalism handling this matter. I'm truly sorry. It hasn't been a good day for me.![]()
