This is GENIUS.

Yeah I will tell you right now....(assuming I don't know your face)....

If you appear in an enclosed elevator with me while I am riding alone and right after a light/power failure...I wont think twice about feeling your spine snap in my hands when I spin your head around 180 degrees....pick your pranks carefully....some people are real people and just don't play.

Act like a threat and you will get treated like one....

Putting your head down and accelerating in a drive through...not a prank....what if I was walking out of the door which is right after the second window and you kill me with your car...is that so funny now...how about if it was me doing that and I killed your kid......come on don't be mad...I wanted to laugh and make youtube money.

Seriously though, I don't let people take pictures of me...there is only 7 photos of me taken after 2001 I believe , I don't even allow my family to record or capture me...it took me a lot to post one picture of me on the internet that wasn't altered to somewhat mask myself.

...put a camera on me and put me on youtube and watch what I do to your life...and don't be mad when I show you my sense of humor.

youtube is not the problem...it is stupid people trying to make ad money at someone else expense, or people with no real talent that like way to much f(_)cking attention even if they do nothing worth looking at.

YouTube might not be "the" problem, but it is "part" of the problem.

YouTube might not be "the" problem, but it is "part" of the problem.
youtube is a venue...certain people choose to abuse it...
people do not want to be harassed and recorded when vulnerable just for the sake of posting on youtube...that is textbook harassment. To do so for profit is a crime.

youtube is not the problem ... certain people are the problem....certain people should be chin-checked

<shrugs>

Pranks have been around since waaaaaaay before youtube and opportunistically, capitalistic pigs ever thought of earning click revenue from adsense. I've had pranks pulled on me (some were even funny), and I've pulled pranks on others (some of which were funny as well) -- It's called FUN! Or used to be...

Question: What's one thing that's drastically wrong with a 2013 humanity?
Answer: We've forgotten how to laugh at ourselves and with each other.

Anyway... Granted - some things can be taken to far. But wow. Interesting assortment of responses here. Did some of you wake up on the wrong right side of the bed hell?

J.

How soon we forget the British nurse (who was suicidal anyway) who took her own life after a stupid prank phone call.

You just never know how someone is going to react, and I hate that people are now encouraging this sort of behaviour with youtube etc.

My Mother had a situation one day where some young idiots were pranking people and one of them ran up to her with a knife, and all covered in fake blood.

It terrified her, and was an enormous shock, she could have had a heart attack, or had any number of adverse reactions... my Father was in the car a short distance away, and immediately ran over and would have killed the kid, but the kid had to back down and start yelling it was a joke etc.... luckily we don't live in a country where weapons are freely available, or that kid might have been shot by my Father.

Stupid, stupid stupid.

and before people say I have a bug up my ass about pranks and humor and having a good ole time....

these are people I know...they are drunk...the dude who got hit with the powder knows about the videos ...to the people that were drunk that night including him... it was hilarious... it was a prank... I do admit that the guy who posted this is obnoxious but him and that guy who got powdered are old football teammates so it was all good to them I guess.

either way....no one was violated here...everyone that was there knows how chit gets down when you get drunk with your peoples and crash early...

there is a big difference between a prank and just being stupid though some pranks are pretty stupid such as the one I posted above...

also it seems that some people forget...you can't just randomly walk up to people on the street engage them while recording and not get their permission to publish it...

There are boundaries and you have to respect them.

I find pranking most of the time to be in poor taste. Have you researched the person your pranking? Do they have medical conditions (heart problems, emotional problems)? Are hit's on youtube more important to <insert prankster> over a persons "potential" well being? Are there adverse effects?

My verdict: F--koff and get a real job. (y)
Dunno, I find certain pranks to be priceless, especially when you get people with them multiple times in the same weak :sneaky:.

I think the problem at hand is people don't understand the term prank...or think that because they think of a genius prank that it is ok to play it out on any stranger they come across...0

YOU CAN NOT PRANK A PERSON WHO IS NOT WILLING!

The only way you would know if the person is willing is if you knew them already or had an inside person....which is why most of the shows that trick people...like punkd or even overhaulin have an inside person...because otherwise they stand a really good chance of not being able to publish it and that would be a waste of time for them.

Anyhow...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_humiliation
Public humiliation was often used by local communities to punish minor and petty criminals before the age of large, modern prisons (imprisonment was long unusual as a punishment, rather a method of coercion).

funny what people find funny now a days really

people need to wise up and play pranks on their friends if they have any...seriously

if it was about the prank it would be fine to share it with the people in on it ....

to publish it and make it a thing to do...is just stupid and watered down and so signifies the "someone please look at me kind of person" look of things.

I can kind of see An'ts perspective. Some **** just isn't funny. There's a famous example of some Belgian guy trying to pull off a prank by running up to people from behind and putting a nylon net over their head or something like that. He got the **** kicked out of him (and I have to admit that if a stranger would physically touch e, I'd have no problem dropping the SOB either).

I'm all for well-executed pranks, but for the love of Pete, keep your hands off of people and it's only fun until someone gets hurt.

Stupid, stupid stupid.

Agreed.

People just like to see the misery of others when it's all said and done.

It reminds me of a prank I seen in my teen years where a local group of lads would get a purse and paste poop on the bottom of the purse/wallet and leave it on a walk way with some change hanging out waiting for people to pick it up jumping out and shouting "S-hitey". problem with that they told stories of people walking past, parents pushing their toddlers in a pram and having them reach for it. One adult ran up to the person and flicked it up with his foot and then catching it. Obviously the health risks with Dog poop is indeed that obvious.

But yeah, you touched on a good point Kim. it's only funny until something bad happens. I'm glad that the pranksters in that case have to live with what they did. Silly woman crying for the camera's was just downright pathetic.

I'm sensing people in this thread got pranked a lot when they were younger

The best one I ever did was in high school I used some special resin we used in the metalworking class to bond a £2 coin to a slab in the middle of the playground.

Watching people try to get it off was pure comedy.

thing is i think there is a difference...I bet you didn't record it and post it on youtube

And it is pretty funny...no one is going to get hurt when you glue a coin to something...no one is going to get filled with an emotion that can drastically change the course of their life...and they have the option of not biting...they can simply not want the coin,or they can try for it... which they wont get...laugh...end of prank...no loose ends.

Forcing a random someone that you don't know to be the subject of a prankster show on youtube is not cool...nor should it be tolerated...

The unexpected adds variety to life.

Would be pretty boring otherwise.

But if I like predictable and boring...it is the place of no one else to impose anything like a surprise prank on me...let alone publish it.

I have plenty of effed up twists in turns in my life already...when it comes to sh!t like this...I am a "you are better off leaving me the f**k alone" kind of person.

Dont go anywhere you might get pranked then :D
