Have looked through every menu option available and I simply can not figure out how to dismiss this error on my ACP home. Any hints?

You can't get rid of that. You really need to click on that to find out what files they are and if they are really unexpected content, they either need to be fixed or ignored. Some people modify files and will get that message and can be ignored.

They are the logo files for my site, having a huge warning in the ACP that is not dismissible is not a tenable situation.

Warn me, then go away. I'll assume the risk.

You should upload the logos to a different location and change the style properties to reflect the location rather than overwriting them. You can use the upload button adjacent to the properties to do this easily:

Control panel > Appearance > Style properties > Basic options

Hmm, yes, I had thought of that, but, I prefer not having resources laying around that might confuse someone else if they come in later to maintain. I guess it's not the workflow I want. I do want to be able to dismiss the warning though. Or have the file scan configurable (where it can be simply turned off).

The notice is not dismissable, and overwriting the default files means the logo is liable to be reverted back to the default when performing upgrades.

It could be done with an add-on I suppose, but the health check provides an important support and security diagnostic and should never appear with a properly configured installation (outside of very exceptional circumstances). It is not possible to dismiss out of the box and we strongly recommend against attempting to hide or otherwise disable it. If it appears, the issues should be resolved properly.

so, if this is something that bothers you on a desktop browser. and you use an ad blocker like ublock. you can use ublock's block element to hide it. it is what i did when my license was expired and i just didn't need to see the notice for that for months. but as the dev mentioned above, doing this for modified files is just not a good idea. cheers!
