The obligatory "Go XenForo!" thread

Just putting in a plea for gentleness and politeness on this thread.
After all that's what it is requesting! Politeness.

Did not mean that anyone has not been polite so far but any sharp comments OR questions risk getting this thread closed. Focusing on the specific request has a chance of success.

Our boys are under a lot of strain, by which I mean KAM and the moderators.

Just a gentle request for a brief friendly comment from KAM every couple of weeks.

Yeah this is constructive.

Let's give the guys a real hard time when we're probably on the brink of the biggest and most important announcement of the company's history (whether that be the settlement result or a future trial).

It's just not worth the time or effort.

If politeness would be enough, none of my posts ever would have had a need to be deleted, edited or closed.

Another question: Who ordered that all "vB" threads had to be deleted 2 days ago? And why are threads dealing with IPB allowed?

I don't think anyone is giving anyone a real hard time Chris :) This is as Morgain said a very gentle thread, about the lack of communication.

I haven't seen anything yet that constitutes a hard time myself.

It's probably not worth the time or effort you're right, but it is being said in far worse manner elsewhere, surely it should be brought up here more than anywhere.

It will be closed before any real discussion can be had anyway.

I am willing to respect that there are good reasons why KAM do not comment.

I didn't comment much on the whole situation (apart from here), but I have to say that as a paying customer (2 licenses unused) that putted his time/energy and trust in this company I am starting to seriously doubt my options with XenForo. I am making considerable money with my vBulletin 3.x powered website and I definitely want to leave the appalling Internet Brands as soon a possible. I am in need of upgrading to a modern solution that can improve on my trusted vB 3.8 platform. And from my point of view Xenforo was the only solution: I never liked Invision and I still don't. I have been a passionate fan of vBulletin up until version 3.6 (after that, IB took over and we all know what happened after that...) and a passionate fan of Xenforo (the UI/UX is simply outstanding: no other package out there comes even close) as well.

But this obvious lack of any official comments from the directors of XenForo is making me puzzled and worried. Apparently there are reasons for them not to communicate directly with their customers anymore, but by all means: why not explain then your reasons in an official statement, so people can actually understand and respect it?

When Kier made a tiny post a few weeks ago everyone was absolutely DELIGHTED. It was so good for morale. A few words meant so much.

Exactly my point. I fail to understand why such a reassuring statement could not be made sooner, in a more official way.

I have posted before that I think it's a mistake not to give us a spoonful of politeness. Once a fortnight, 5 mins is not a lot. It might not have content but politeness counts for a lot.
I continue to lovingly support XF but I do criticise this point.

You are not the only, I feel the same, so do many others.

Chris I don't get it. I don't think a polite request for a sentence of politeness is giving them a hard time.
This is a strain on everyone and the calls for this kind of input have never stopped over a year now, and I think it's reasonable to ask for it.

We are on the brink yes but it could be a few weeks of brink!
Even as much as six or eight if it goes to trial, before we get more than very bare outline info. I think the strain is going to start doing damage if we don't get something like this minor courtesy going.
I have done it myself when in and out of hospital or in a big court case, handling UK property (which is DIRE!) etc etc Clients deserve courtesy. It's a duty.

“If There Is No Struggle, There Is No Progress” - Frederick Douglas.

That's my Black History month quote for the day.

Speculating or commenting with hindsight is a great thing.

I'm sure when looking back KAM will probably agree things could have been done different.

But, things have happened how they have happened, no point speculating or getting worked out about it, it does nobody any good and wont change the past.

My thread was not banging on about the past. It was apolite request for a change NOW as we go into the final stretch. Which I pointed out could be as much as six weeks, and will get even more strained than things have been already.

I think a regular dose of XF courtesy, even just a tiny bit every fortnight, will reduce stress and sustain support.
