Shanj, mine are basic American Standard kitties. We think the mom is part Siamese but not sure. We know the youngest one is a polydactyl (we have a set of triplets). My babies even have their own website. Ramsey Cats

I love the sound of your bed, sounds neat. I LOVE Maine Coon kitties, they are so pretty. Had to look up Siberians but I can see that they are a beautiful breed as well. Similar to the Maine.

I always used to have plain moggies but my dear Jophn hankered for a LARGE cat - he was thinking Maine. In looking for a part Maine (I prefer hybrids) I discovered Siberians and got him Sofia our gorgeous Russian lady. She's very Siberian in every way and we also have her daughter Boudicca who looks like a sabre tooth tigress but is immensely gentle.

Then recently young Etsaana joined us who is half Maine but perhaps the only shorthaired plush silky black Maine due to her mixed heritage.

We think that as the Maines, Norwegian Forests and Siberians have such closely similar bodies and natures that they were spread from Scandinavia to both west and east by the Vikings, making the NFs the elder breed. We call them the Viking Cats. Interesting that they are all fairly unbothered by water where the foreign breeds from Africa and Asia hate it except to drink.

Originating in colder climates one theory is that their high quality social skills developed because those that could negotiate well in crowded cabins through long winters, would have got heat and food so survived and bred more.
Viking Cats are certainly known for their passionate intimacy, cuddling close to your face and on your pillow. This creates wonderful images of hulking bearded Vikings bei8ng soppy with their large sturdy Cat friends curled on their chest or shoulder, burrowed in the long beards!

Now I've know how intelligent and sociable they are it would be hard to have any other type of Cat.

Jo you're right - being a woman can be a drag at times.
At least you're not saying this because you're in labour (I hope)!

Also consider the alternative ... you could be a man. Now I like HAVING a man but I'd hate to BE one. <grin>

Thanks hon... I'm just fed up of being ill and then getting time of the month crap on top of it all. I don't want to go and make dinner.. rather just stay in bed with heat squished around me lol

As the midwife said to me when I was having my son "who'd be a girl" ... sometimes I agree, but then I think about how much I enjoy being a girl, overall it's pretty good ;)

Sorry you are not well hun, Hot water bottle, snuggle in bed, and call a pizza or just make some toast or something super easy.

Thanks hon. I decided to just bake some potatoes.

I like to cook properly but I guess sometimes you just can't. I've been ill for weeks and a week ago ended up in the ER by ambulance because of breathing difficulties. They told me I have to rest so I'm having to eat shove in the oven stuff mostly... but it's really driving me insane lol.

Yeah I agree - there are good things about being a girl most of the time, but sometimes it just sucks!

I'm in a moany mood today lol... sorry

That's a good enough reason to be fed up!

I am very sorry you've been ill. That is bad enough without TTOM showing up on top of things. I agree, grab the hot water bottle or heating pad and just snuggle in the bed.

Thanks for letting me vent :) I'm snuggled up in bed with a heated wheat bag... and very thankful they exist lol

That's ONE reason we like this thread...we can vent to each other and we all understand.

I'm doing good other than being frustrated with my prescription coverage.

Long story and confusing for anyone outside the US.
