Tapatalk Forum App for xenForo - iOS / Android / Windows Phone Mobile App [Deleted]

Tapatalk: We have just temporary halted the release of 2.4.0 to rework couple more issues related to the plugin conflicts. We will put out a new update shortly.

I've got a GTmetrix A rating.... lightning fast page loads so for me (personally), I'll take speed out of the equasion... anything else?

Please feel free to move this post, but I can't think of a better place to ask.
What is the benefit of using an app? I ditched this ages ago but still the occasional user wants an app.
Despite making sure every page is fully responsive and more functional than any app could ever be (apps don't factor in mods and other customisations) people still sometimes ask for an app and get disappointed when the request is rejected.

I'm curious what everyone here sees as the benefits because I'm really struggling to "get it" and justify giving into user request.
The majority of my users use it. Most people just want the ease of use of mobile. Responsive is not getting it done in my opinion for most mobile users. I personally don't use Tapatalk and don't like it, but I have to offer it and maintain it for my members which is most of them. Here is a snap shot just now, almost all members are on it. The question is, how many users DO NOT come to your site because its not offered. I guess if you don't know, it really doesn't matter then.

i realy wonder why people use this plugin?laziness?

I use it because I lurk on dozens of aquarium related forums and I can keep all of these in one app, see all the alerts for all the updated threads on all forums/threads I'm subscribed to on the same screen. One feed, rolling through all of them and I can go back and forth from that list directly to the updated threads without having to go back to mail, find the message, click message, go to forum, hope it's mobile friendly (some of the largest reefkeeping forums are NOT), then when I'm all done - close 2 dozen browser windows.

So call me lazy if you think I'm lazy. If you're on one and only one forum constantly, yes you might be right. But not when you're on 50.

Sure, the kind of laziness that results in not reading a thread you posted in where people tell you why they use it

bwahahaa!! SO TRUE

admins can ----- all they want about this addon and they would be right, it has a horrendous track record of stability, reliability, security, etc. Not to mention that they keep changing the UI and every time they do it, someone hates it. Personally the latest one I finally like. So hopefully they don't change it again. But the will.

And I will continue to use it and offer it for use, because there is no viable alternative, really.

Have I just been beamed into the twilight zone?

yes. I don't know. what do you mean?

Many of my users love Tapatalk...I use it myself on my phone...much easier than mobile responsive. However, they need to get their acts together and appropriately TEST before releasing an update.

this plugin failed in every script, mybb, phpbb, xenforo so that is my point of use this plugin

It's a free product and many are happy it exists.. It being free, people really should stop complaining about bugs and issues and be happy they are making updates and improvements. If your unsatisfied with the level of testing before releases and time it takes to resolve bugs, code it yourself then.. After all they could be putting the time and effort they do into their paid version instead of their free version.

Totally disagree...it is NOT free for the users - only for the forum owners...all my users have paid for the app, so I don't know where you are getting free from. AND...when something better comers along, I will switch.

good joke :ROFLMAO:

2.4.1 fixes the problem and I just installed it from the tapatalk website.

---
We have been a long time tapatalk user under VB and then later under XF.
We eventually switched to the BYO program and publish an IOS version that we offer for free to our audience. The BYO version used to be more feature rich over the free version and we liked to pay for it monthly to get those advantages. Later I felt cheated when the free version matched the BYO and even surpassed it. Not sure why I maintain a subscription month after month (I know why...I don't look closely at my paypal account). The Free-ish version over time (currently) became something unusable in my opinion. Visiting my own forum is cluttered with instagram like images when all i want to do is read posts in a structured matter and not by trends computed by algorithm. For that reason my BYO version is very old. Its stable and our audience can tapatalk our forum through the free app we offer and it is not the GUI/LOL/DumbdedDown experience the public tapatalk client has become. /RANT

At this point I also would switch to an alternative if there would be one.
