Yeah I had to set it to new topics only, far too much spam otherwise lol. Expanding on that idea though I'd personally love to see an addon that took the contents of 'recent activity' and threw it into a XenPorta / widget block and loaded new recent activity content, with the option to load live or on page load. If live it could use the same refresh settings setup as taigachat.. max refresh time when focused, unfocused, etc. This could be included as a feature in taigachat or as a separate addon, whatever made more sense, with options on what recent activity content to show (whether or not to show new avatars, new registrations, new threads or replies, post ratings, et cetera), however if it was a feature of taigachat id want the option to keep it separate from the chat perhaps, which I suppose would just be checking an option in the ACP telling it to not include recent activity in chat, and instead you can just use a xenporta block or whatever, or include the template in the full view of the chat, above or below it, whatever you fancied. Or this could be an option too if you want to make it easier on the end user rather than telling them to edit the template, some pre-defined positions I guess. Above chat, below it, in sidebar. I'd probably use it as a xenporta block on the main forum, and also have it below the chat but in reverse direction so that new stuff appears at the top, which would mimic how recent activity currently loads new content. The idea needs some refining and work but you get the gist of it.Is there anyway to split forum activity from Taigachat? Is that possible for us to have two tabs, one for forum activity, one for chat? Or may be place one on top of the other. We have new replies every minute, it is nearly impossible to chat with "Show new threads and replies" enabled.
There is an addon for live activity I think, but I prefer to use your addon. Will definitely see about releasing a separate live activity widget addon, I thought something like that would have already existed.
And will fix those 2 bugs for 1.0.2 (assuming I can reproduce the latter, no idea how the title ended up as ".")
The only minor caveat I see with it though is I'm forced to set it to show only threads guests can see, as the chat is public. Given the nature of my forum, a good chunk of the activity takes place in private forums. It would be awesome if the activity portion of the chat could detect the user viewing the chat and only display activity that he/she has the permissions to see, instead of going off a single user ID that's set in the options, in my case 0 for guests. This would make it a complete activity 'stream' rather than one that's just for guests, or whatever ID you have it set to.

Im going to by this tonight,
any chance of a further update which counts members chats and maybe lists a leader board.
also ability to put number of users chats in sidebar member info panel
It's a possibility maybe but I don't think users would be interested in a count of shout messages anywhere near as much as a standard forum post count. Just don't think it's worth the added complexity
I have run forums for years on vbulletin. all chatboxes on vb have a chat count. We often run chatbox competitions ie top chatters in a week. its a great way to create activity and get members chatting and get new members to integrate.
I also had a mod made on vb so members earnt credits for each chat
