Dear All,

I am switching to xenForo from VB4 along with webhost. I would realy need your help to get the best webhost for xenForo.

Thanks in advance.

Allgamer seems like nice at price, how is its support and long run experiences?
I'm new to them (within a month), but they set me up a bare Debian 64bit linux system (not their common request), but they have other linux distros as well.

After they set it up with your IP, it's all yours once you shell into it. Full -root- privvy. None of that shared SUDO crap or no shell some host resellers do.

For me, $15/mo for an unlimited resource of my own to do whatever I want on it is well worth the price. Now for $15/mo it does come with only 5Gb of hdd space. For a website, that's fine with me - if you want more - they got more. :-)

Welcome to marketing.

Who said anything about MySQL being used?
Standard optimization. My.cnf modifications, tweaks to httpd.conf, etc. Other than that all you can really do is swap out software (e.g replace Apache with Lighttpd or similar, etc).

You cant tell me your 'special optimized XenForo VPS' has some kind of unique feature that isn't found in every single other VPS, can you? (BTW, just want to point out - I'm not trying to be an ass or anything - just having a bit of fun as I can see a bunch of hosts coming out with a bunch of marketing crap about how they are the best XenForo host to make a quick sale, and was intrigued as to how yours is better/different :))

Not all hosts offer Percona Server with XtraDB on top of MySQL, with supplemental (not full) support for it. Essentially, I'll be looking to move to either Zend Server CE/Std, or LiteSpeed server. There are two field trials, one with LS, other with Zend CE/Std. I'm preferring the LS setup right now. httpd is provided as a backend accelerator.

A lot more do than you might think...I'd personally use MariaDB however.

I'd recommend LiteSpeed - we've got a bunch of servers running it and its shocking how much faster than Apache it's been. Shame about the licensing though! Zend's a bit of a pain in the ass on a few distros. Deffinently not as usable (overall) as LiteSpeed. Admittedly the last time I tried Zend was about 6 months ago.

For the average forum however, a standard VPS will be fine. There's no point having extra licensing costs bulked onto a VPS price for the sake of speed thats not needed. Obviously fairly high traffic / resource intensive forums, sure...but the average joe need not bother with anything too expensive - a good reliable VPS with hourly backups will do.
