XF 1.5 Store proxied images in RAM?

I changed all of my sites to https today and enabled the link and image proxy functions in XenForo about 2 hour ago.

Since my sites are photograpy forums, I already have a couple GB of images proxied. I am concerned that all these images being written are going to eventually wear out my primary SSD. I suppose I could add another SSD to my server, but I was wondering if they can be somehow stored in RAM. I have about 50GB of RAM that currently isn't doing anything.

I wouldn't suggest that type of thing myself. RAM would be a temp thing and if (god forbid) your server crashes or needs a reboot for any reason (including major kernel updates for security issues) you would have only been storing that image proxy as a very temp thing. Granted, it should be fixable.

TL;DR Yes, you need to use a RAMDisk, but not something I'd suggest.

Thanks for your reply. I'm going to try the DigitalPoint Image Proxy addon to see how that works for me. If I understand correctly, it will use Memcached (since I have that configured).
