I was thinking you could accomplish what I call "community moderation" with :
Extended Likes.
Sonnb Stop forum Spam.
- with some tweaks of both.

or maybe just Stop forum Spam with a Spam link beside Like ?

Two weeks ago, I got hit with massive spam (looks like the same characters that hit the forum you referenced).

I installed XenUtiles, and though it took a couple of days of tweaking and submitting spammers to the services (especially stopforumspam), it has now dropped from 8-10 posts a day to 1-2 every 2-3 days...I am hoping it continues to decline as I block spammers IPs and usernames.

EDIT:

Relooking the post, I recognize one of the spammers, Marakassi, or whatever it is...I just deleted that spammer the other day.

I suggest Q&A with some good questions.

They're blowing past Q&A now most the time, I had Q&A setup with questions like "Who was the second president of the USA" and "What kind of crop was once featured on a penny" and it made no difference.

I suggest tying in to the stop forum spam database and preventing the signup all together. Since doing that spam has been reduced to nothing.

It sounds great on the surface but it would only take a small group of people to effectively cut someone off from publicly posting. It would be used as a troll-toolkit

I know pedigree (stopforumspam) has been very unhappy with those using xenutiles and has been blocking users and purging submission databases of those who use it.

As I don't use XF currently I don't know the whole back story but thought maybe this is why you're having problems with xenutiles.

Edit: I see in the comment section of xenutiles that Omnibus updated his add-on back on 8/24/12 to meet pedigree's requirements.

Best solution I found. Get rid of re-cpatch and put something new in. http://xenforo.com/community/resources/solve-media.1014/. This mod did the trick for me.

Best solution I found. Get rid of re-cpatch and put something new in. http://xenforo.com/community/resources/solve-media.1014/. This mod did the trick for me.

I have that plugin installed on a few sites, and some spammers managed to get through. I had to ban a few spammers here and there since the installation.

So, I continued to ban the old accounts that had these profile spam links... Just this morning, we had a huge amount of guests viewing the forum.



In my research trying to find the source, it turns out that there are a lot of people trying to get into one of the accounts. Looks like some spammers have been arguing over the account's ban. lol.

Stupid.

1. Q&A
2. Must Approve Your Account in Email
3. Noobs cannot create threads or view/post on profiles.
4. Delete Zero Posts Posters After X Amount of Days (Floris mod?).

All that and no spam really...
