@sonnb some new news about the video upload ?
It is available for testing, if you interested in, please PM me your email. Even I have done on the development for months, I still not publish it yet.

@sonnb a quick question before I buy - I already have Xen Gallery on my forum. unfortunately I bought it in haste and now find a couple of things I need it doesn't cater for, luckily yours does. My question is, I see from the list it has an importer from Xen Gallery - does this work importing within the same forum or does it have to be two separate forums ?

If i want to add your gallery what is the process to get the existing galleries in Xen Gallery over to yours ??

Hello Stemmy,

- You can import your existing gallery to my gallery using importer just as normal.
- By using forum importer, you can import any forum you one. You also can import individual thread.

@sonnb finally purchased the gallery and its brilliant -0 does everything i needed it to do. Great work !!

One thing, being a photography gallery we do have some NSFW images - how can I stop members using the images for avatars ? is there a way i can disable the "Use as Avatar" function on a usergroup by usergroup basis ??

Thanks in advance.

@sonnb I have a question - I am trying to edit a camera model on the camera list.

I have already done quite a few and they worked fine.

I now have 2 that I cannot change - i find the data relating to the camera, change it and yet it doesnt change on the forum. its like there is a duplicate entry that i cannot fine. As you can only search for camera name Im not sure if there is a duplicate camera ID with the same camera name.

Very odd - if you go to my website www.photography-forum.org you will see the two cameras i cannot change.

We're thinking of purchasing this lovely add-on. One question though: have you considered facebook albums integration and if I've missed something is there already one (like they do at vk.com)?

Do you offer any kind of Wordpress integration to show the gallery images on a WP widget?
I afraid there is no.

There is no way to do that at this time because they still can save image and upload in their avatar. You can do a tricky way by edit template and remove set avatar link, you can check out: sonnb_xengallery_photo_view and sonnb_xengallery_photo_view_overlay.

Seem I do not have permission to see the gallery, can you share me one?

Do you mean that import albums/photos from facebook?

When importing from a large thread, is there any way to have the images be assigned to the poster of the individual post were the photo exists instead of everything being assigned to the user account who made the thread?

Example, I had a large "show your truck" thread with 100+ photos inside of it. But when I import into xengallery, all images are imported as if they are owned by the member who starred the thread.

nevermind, that's how it works. :-? Would be nice to pull the text of each post made into the comments for that photo, but that's ok.

What's gonna happen to this addon now that Chris's competing product is now part of the core suite? IMO this gallery addon was far superior. Sad days for those who invested in this.

Indeed. Nothing wrong with XenGallery. It's very well coded, and there's no reason why sonnb shouldn't keep developing it.

As Paul quite rightly states, personal preference plays a big part in this.

Whilst both galleries do the same basic thing, they do it differently; I would hope this add-on will continue to be developed and supported by the community as it is also a great quality product.

Having a choice of the two is definitely the better option! (y)

Why should anything have to happen to it?
It is a perfectly good add-on in its own right.

Some prefer the layout and style of this, some prefer XFMG.

It is up to individuals to choose.

In fact XenGallery and XFMG have different approaches of managing albums and photos not only the layout. But definitely by be moved into official products, XFMG performed huge step. People do prefer to choose official products unless they have reason to not do so.

But XenGallery will keep moving, not only to earn more customers but also for existing customers. I still have a long to-do list to deal with.

I too hope that XenGallery will continue to be developed. Although I am an XFMG user, that was down to personal preference in styling and how it works etc. For many, XenGallery's infinite scroll and tiled appearance are preferable to the XFMG layout. So having this as an alternative means that everyone can choose a gallery of their preference.

I do wish that people would get away from the mentality that a product has to be 'official' to be any good and to have continued support. That isn't the case at all. There are plenty of good add-ons like XenGallery from dedicated authors who will continue to support their products. There's just as much chance that XenForo would go under as there is of products from a great author like @sonnb no longer being supported. The fact is, XenForo needs independent, talented developers creating add-ons for it to be successful and as long as one exists, so will the other.

Here's to choice for consumers! :)
