You mean the navigation arrow? You can replace them with other images that fit your styles. Check in styles\sonnb\XenGallery

Or you mean the blue when you hover the navigation arrow? You can change that by CSS.

In other words- when a member uploads a large image it automatically resizes upon upload to a size chosen in the ACP by the admin. Right now members can upload huge files OR don't know how to resize via their desk top to a set limit per the admin. This should be automatic on opload- mementos should not have I resize then upload - inconvenience.

If I import a couple photos, and I decide I didn't like the way I imported them, so I delete them from the gallery, how do I import them again? I think I painted myself in a corner....

I do not have time frame but you might see it soon
Just go to Import again and import as normal. You even can import thousand of times

Sorry, I didn't explain, I was importing from an XF thread using the "Import to Gallery" link. The link that you click to import has disappeared. If I try to force it to import by re-typing the import URL (threads/name.####/gallery-import), it errors out telling me the thread is already imported.
