sonnb - XenGallery (XenForo Gallery) [Deleted]

So you are using PhotoPost vBGallery or PhotoPost Pro? It's easy for PhotoPost vBGallery as it uses vB users and you might imported from vB to XF.
In my case I'm using... was using... vBGallery running vB 3.8 before I imported to XF. The users should already exist from the initial import. I left the old vB database and files (I was storing the vBGallery files on the server, not in the db) intact in case I ever found a way of importing. :D

For PhotoPost Pro, since it is standalone software, we need import users (but not sure they would be used by anyone?) or we can set all albums for admin?
I think for most vB users they would have been using it in integrated mode so their users would already be imported also when they convert the forums over to XF. Before putting too much effort into working on a stand-alone PP Pro importer you'd want to get input from any interested customers to see how many are actually running PP not integrated.

sonnb updated sonnb - XenGallery with a new update entry:

IP.Gallery 5.0.2+ importer + Manually Thread Import

- Added IP.Gallery 5.0.2+ importer to convert your Categories, Albums, Photos and Comments from IPB.Gallery version 5.0.2+ to XenGallery.
You must previously imported from IPB and you must have the archived import log to perform this action.
- Added Thread Import Permission for users import their own threads to Gallery.
There are two permissions: Import Own Threads and Import Any Thread(Mod Permission).
Users are able to edit album's title, category, import comments and choose which...

The import thread to gallery does not do anything for me, i click the link in a thread (made a test one) and i see the ajax loading box show and then it goes. No errors or anything.

Once a thread is imported into an album what happen to it? Closed? Synced with the album?

It remains unchanged. No action would be applied for that thread. It would not be synced with album.
Is possible to create an new album and than make xengallery create automatically a new thread synced to it?
The answer is no. We have comments then no reason to create a thread like Resource Manager does.

Try to think about it, some people (particularly registered user) prefer to browse a gallery in a thread so they can continue to "chit-chat" adding pics directly in the thread, and others by the gallery itself. I think that a "gallery thread" will help people to engage each other and will make grow the "synced" gallery.

If it's possibile i think can be a huge boost for this addon (and for the forums with it installed)... but maybe I'm the only one to think it! :(

Having thread connected to the gallery will defeat the purpose of the comment feature of this gallery.

Why not use comment and add photo feature of Gallery?

Just ask for a thread gallery add-on instead. Technically, XF already has a thread gallery and it's an option to allow users to go through all images of a thread when one image is clicked. SO if you just request an add-on to display the gallery somewhere in the message view/ thread view... then I think you'd be okay? It pretty much exists, just need some template modifications.

Unless you're asking him to have a gallery auto generated for each new thread, then I'm not entirely sure it's a great option to have. it'd be a little repetitive.

I understand where you're coming from though. Don't get me wrong lol I just think sonnb can better use his time to work on other features.

Does this import from the extra album permissions of XFR User Albums More and does the importer also include the Global Albums option?
