XF 2.1 Smiles button doesen't work

My smiles button is not working anymore (click on it doesen't open the munu) after upgrading XF to 2.1. What's wrong? Is it my forum only or are you experiencing this problem too? For me and my users it's a problem.
It's happening both in chat and in thread/replies

I would probably disable any addons you have installed and try again. Something may not be compatible with 2.1

You need to set your DB up to support them,

Emoji and unicode support | XenForo

Seems like he was saying it was working before the upgrade though. Ours worded before and after the upgrade so I'm assuming something else is up with an addon?
