Elasticsearch 2.x compatibility fix and a new option to set cache TTL

The version fixes a PHP error caused by Elasticsearch 2.x incompatibility. Your installation is not affected by the issue if filtering brings any results with ES enabled. We have also implemented a new option to set Cache TTL controlling how long the results of the search should be cached in the MySQL database. Setting the option to 0 will disable the cache. The option should be used only to troubleshoot issues that could be caused by invalid cache.

The new version is available for all...

Are you going to support other Bob’s addons? They re-use the same “standard code” so I think that a single addon can support them all.

The "standard code" is actually standard because of XenForo coding standards, and all add-ons should follow these standards. Add-ons that create Admin Panel CRUD pages, support custom fields, prefixes and filters on front-end, etc. will all have a very similar code if done properly. This helps greatly as we are able to abstract a large portion of PHP to be addon-independent, ensuring the minimum number of bugs for newly developed add-ons. This does not remove, however, the integration with UI, as each add-on has its templates, requires custom template modifications, classes are named differently and need to be extended separately so the shared code can be "injected" into the add-on, etc, so having a single add-on to "support" multiple add-ons is not an option. Showcase support was developed as a funded project, as developing for a third-party add-on is not financially viable unless at least partially funded upfront. If you are interested in any add-on and would like to fund its development, please contact us at https://customers.addonslab.com/submitticket.php for further terms.

Thank you!

Are you planning to implement filter links like the xf1 version has? We use this functionality every day.

@AddonsLab it would be great if you could offer the same functionality for @Bob's RMS system as well!

Sure, any add-on implementing proper custom field system can be supported. Please see our reply above for more details regarding the development of additional filter add-ons for other third-party products.

Thank you!

Yes but 45$ (And 40$ each for updates) for each filter is going to be a huge amount if you have 2/3/4 of them (it’s already huge for resoirces/media/threads). Bob’s addon (as you can see) replicate differences in the majority of each templates, they have the majority of the view as standard each other. So coding/maintain for one or for ten takes less time then for other addons.

Dear @Kintaro ,

Please avoid estimating our income without any clear idea on how much time it takes to develop a solution and how many licenses are actually sold, especially estimating it as "huge" is very far from being true. Just for your information, so much "asked" Showcase support was developed now and there was no single purchase in more than a week already.

The amount of work we invested in creating the system to be extendable and re-usable for multiple types of add-ons was very large, and the fact that we reuse the parts of code to develop new add-ons should not be confused with "easily supporting more add-ons". Of course, we spend less time on developing a new solution compared to the original development of Thread Filter, but it is only thanks to quality (and therefore time-consuming) work we did on Thread Filter. Reuse of code actually largely improves the quality of add-ons, as a bug reported in one add-on is often reproducible in another one as well and is fixed immediately. Newly implemented features are also easier (and therefore quicker) implemented in each of them. Check the last update for Resource Filter as an example of implementing all features we developed for Thread Filter within several months for Resource Filter.

I hope our decision not to develop filter add-ons for third-parties without prior funding is completely understandable now. If you are interested in such a solution please contact us.

Thank you!

Bug-fix: results are incomplete/missing when using with multiple prefixes

Due to a limitation on how many items are returned by the initial search based on prefixes (200 by default), their further filtering by category and custom fields could end up with a missing or incomplete list of found items. The issue is fixed now by raising the limit based on the option "Maximum result count" (10000 by default).

Multi-category search configuration and multiple prefix search enhancement

The release allows customization of the filter form on the Showcase index page and the search page. Previously, only the custom fields shared by all categories would be shown. Now, this is an option - "Multiple category search mode", and changing its value to "All fields" you can show all custom fields from all categories in the form.

Another enhancement in this version is the ability to see each prefix in the active filters list and remove them individually.

Third, I'd buy this immediately for RMS!

Thank you for your interest. We will develop the add-on if enough customers are interested. Around 10 licenses could cover around 50% of our investment into the development, which is the threshold for us to consider the project. For now, around 3-4 customers seem to need the add-on (given they actually purchase a license when it is developed).

Thank you for this estimate. I think you are underestimating how many people use RMS. Im certain there is enough interest. I hope enough people will show there interest here.
