RM 1.2 Show resources WITHOUT child categories ?

We are using RM1.2 and we have more than 5000 files.
Assume that we have a (main category) and inside there is 3 (child/sub categories)

- Main category (800 files)
--- Sub categoryI (200 files)
--- Sub categoryII (100 files)
--- Sub categoryIII (50 files)

If I enter the (Main category) then I will see all the 800 files
Is there any way to view the (Main category) files WITHOUT the (Sub category) files?

That would require custom development -- the "show from all children" is a pretty core part of the RM.

Guys, anyone tried to do this? i.e checkbox (view files without child categories files)
It is really difficult to explore a main category if there is child categories inside especially when you have thousands of files
