XF 1.5 Show content from user field in a notice.

I want to put up a notice in the forum for a number of users and I would like to show the contents in one extra field we added in the user table.
How do I
1. find the ID of the field I need and
2. expose it in the notice?

Notices only expose specific tokens, so changing this would require an add-on.

Thanks, any suggestion? The ones I've been looking at doesn't seem to support this. But I probably need to dig a bit deeper.
