What's best service out there for sending mass emails?

PHPList. They have a paid service and a free script that you can install. It may not work so well with a shared server, but if you have a VPS or dedicated.

For newsletters I like Sendy. The price is right and the software works good. If you run nginx it can be a pain to set up, but there are services that host it for you as well.

I've been using https://www.mailwizz.com/ for a few years now and like it.

I've been using Amazon SES for almost a few months now with no issues other than it took some convincing to get my account out of the sandbox. I used some of the guides/advice from folks on this forum to help me out with that.

I use a mixture of my own current email address and a mail program from my host. No issues.
